Images of 1914 Italian 2 Lire

A 1914 2 Lire coin graded MS64 by NGC recently was auctioned on eBay. There was interest from a number of forum members, and I have had requests to post some pics of the coin. So here it is....
(my camera never captures the color blue very well. There is light blue mixed in with the reverse toning)

I just can't get over how stunningly beautiful that reverse design is, and your example is certainly one of the better ones in existance, Clank.

I was disappointed about being outbid as well, until I saw this new one on eBay and snatched it. Not as nice, perhaps but also not as expensive. image

I'll post pics when I get it.
  • That's a nice looking coin, newsman. I'm glad you found that.

I have heard that ICG actually does a pretty good job with foreign material. From the scans that looks like you got a great coin at a real reasonable price.

Please do post scans when you get the coin in.

European coins of the late 19th and early 20th centuries are some of the most beautiful ever, IMHO. I've always wanted one of these. image

I saw one of those and I wasn't sure whether I should include it in my World War I set as Italy didn't join until 1915. If the one I saw was half as nice as that one there would have been no confusion - awesome!

That's a breathtaking design, I've always thought. And a particularly nice example you have there, too. image
