I've always wondered what is actually in this book. It appears to be several hundred pages, and is also only "volume 1". Is this a 200 page rant on why the other services are bad or what???

you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. The book is full of useful information. The author may be full of crap, but the book is a good read.

I have also heard that this is a good reference book. I plan on buying one. Like it or not Alan Hager is very knowledgeable about coins, which means there is no excuse whatsoever for his grading company's crappy(understatement) grading.
