Why only in circulation for barely over 2 years? I think the design is much nicer than the Indian(which is a great design in itself).

The metal alloy mix made them difficult to strike, combined with the fact that the deepest place on the obverse the metal had to go was also at the same location on the coin's reverse. Consequently, you can see a number of Unc. coins with incomplete feather detail (reverse), and crumbling devices (as the metal was so hard, that it wore down the dies too quickly).
