if I continue to bid on a 1900-O/CC in PCGS-AU-55 when my opening bid was $201.87, which is to say the least, too high as it is? I dropped that bid in thinking there wouldn't be a challenged and "Low and behold" there's someone goofyer than me. Graysheet has it @ B: $90 & A: $100 for AU.. and.. B: $170 & A: $185 for MS-60; Numismedia has it Between $130 & $140 in AU-55; CU has it $118 in AU & $182 in MS-60......

You may not be crazy. If the coin is nice and harder to find in that grade range problem free (and certifiable) you might as well not look at the price sheets.

Good point Cam! I guess if one wants it bad enough, money shouldn't hinder their/my initial thoughts about purchasing it. I'll drop $20 more on it and that's it......

Everyone has their point to stop at. I am not saying to pay moon money, but you even started it high in hopes of winning. There must be others out there also which means the sheets must be off.

I think it depends on the coin itself, too. If it has a lot of eye appeal, I'd be more willing to go as quite a bit over ask. If you're buying sight unseen or there's nothing particularly special about the coin, I wouldn't bid much higher because more than likely another one will come along another time.

VAM-9 goes for over $600 in AU...I kid you not (quoting the Top 100 Insight newsletter).

VAM-7A may also be pricey.
