I love my Saturday Morning coffee served with a big heaping helping ambiguity and confusion...

LMAO..Bigindie You should be here with a Cup 'O' Joe peering at coinage amidst earth movers tearing the yard apart. I'm glad the tab is on them or I'd be looking to SELL COINAGE to cover the exorbitant bill...
What is money, in reality, but dirty pieces of paper and metal upon which privilege is stamped?
Communication is the key as Coinguy1 said. I'll pead Peaceman has some very high standards for what he wants in a coin. I myself have the same problem at times and I am acutely aware of it. Just get it out in the open and hammer out what your standards are. Most of us probably don't agree with the standards of any of the grading services on what is average for the grade. There is always a range of subjectivity. My "all there" 65 coin may be PCGS's 65.2 and therefore it is unacceptable to me on a routine basis. It might take a PCGS 65.5 or 65.7 or 65.8 coin to make me happy. Then you can discuss price. And at times my 65 coin might just be PCGS's 64.8 coin. There are thousands of coin dealers out there who have no clue as to technical or market grading other than getting it in the ball park. It's not intentional in many cases, just the facts. A local dealer near me if consistently off 1-5 points on his mint state grading. He just cannot grade and makes no effort to get better. I don't think he even realizes he cannot grade!!
Part of the problem with anyone who was around before PCGS had thier own standard in place. And from that point on you have had to adjust to changing standards. In my case it is still higher on average than either service even though I have dumbed it down at least 1/3 pt or more since 1990. Buying for someone else is always tricky.
Well, I think this has got out of hand somewhat. I wonder why there aren't more replies to "positive threads" than one's that try to linch a dealer, so let's clear the air......
First off, it wasn't Bob Green in FL. it was John McCarthy from Park Avenue Numismatics who I found out is based in N.Y. I spoke to Bob today about John's approach to the return I had and have since cleared it up with his company. Just so you know, Bob's company does have a 100% return policy in place, no questions asked.
Again, the entire reason for the thread was to vent, not to throw stones or try to discredit a coin dealer based one employees actions. We are human, we all make mistakes. Obviously there was a communication problem somewhere along the way. I want to thank Bob for listening to me today over the phone and YES, I'm STILL on his want list.
The only problem I had with the thread is that you revealed just enough information to make some members start questioning the integrity of dealers based in Florida who had nothing to do with the deal. Tough to defend yourself in such a circumstance.
Is the Park Ave in New York affiliated with Bob's operation in Florida?

Congrats on getting it cleared up.
