Always looking for nice type coins
my local dealer
2. 1901 S barber quarter in original/clean for the grade vg to fine.
3. type date large cent in 66 brown or red & brown with clean surfaces, sharply struck, absolutly full thick mint luster in the middle of the word one cent on the reverse.
4. a type date bust half with no evidence of ever having been "conserved" that has clean surfaces and full thick unbroken mint luster next to the nose and mouth area in the fields.
5. I want to repurchase the Randell hoard 1820 large cent in 65 brown that I sold to raise money, stupid, stupid thing to do, if I can find that coin again I will buy it back. Best luster I ever saw on a large cent in that grade ever!!!
a frosty Cameo proof Shield nickel (PCGS or NGC, PR63 CAM or better), or a similarly graded Seated coin bigger than a dime, either white or with light target tone in pastel colors. Holed Bust dollar with nice detail (one from the 1700's would be nice, or alternately, one of those really deceptive, die struck counterfeit 1799's with the broken R in LIBERTY. Normally I do not drill holes in coins for my Holey Coin Vest, but I would have no qualms about drilling one of those counterfeits- it would make a nice looking filler for the vest, and by being on my vest, holed, it would be removed from the marketplace and the potential to harm somebody.)One or more of the last few large cents I need for the date set on the back of the Holey Coin Vest (these are in my signature line)an EF or better, well-struck, well-executed old style Athenian Owl tetradrachm. I believe these were mostly struck during the fifth century B.C. I have wanted one forever, but because of that, I want my first one to be really special- no filler coins or crudely struck pieces! I would also like to find a holed example for the vest.a medium- to large-sized early gold coin, holed, for the Holey Gold Hat I wear to shows with the Holey Coin Vest. Some possibilities would be something English, a French Ecu d' Or, a Scotttish Sword and Scepter, or a Spanish 2 or 4-escudo piece.

For example I would love to upgrade one of my 1796 half dimes, but I have not seen any really nice ones at a coin show for a number of years. Sure I spotted one in an AU-50 holder a couple of years ago that I had first seen on Ebay. When I finally saw the coin, however, it turned out the coin had a big scratch on the obverse and had been harshly cleaned. Since the price was through the roof, passing on that deal did not cause me any heartache
My latest big purchase was an 1856 political campaign token that was issued for James Buchanan. I found it at a political show, but when I went to show I was not looking for that item specifically. It was only “on my list.” As it turned out the piece was nice, and the price was fair. And since the total population if these pieces is less 30 pieces or so in copper and white metal, locating one was quite a find. The person from whom I bought it had just bought a copper one for his collection so this white metal piece was “on the market.”
