Anyone care to predict who the posse will target in 2006?

What ever happened to Dorkkarl who started this thread? He was extremely active here and then just stopped.

<< <i>So far the Posse has had 264 beers, 67 gin and tonics

and 111 prime rib dinners with all of the fixins.

I would say they are making progress. At least in the field

    of gustatory delights. >>

I'm ususally not "gust-atory" until after a big meal. And it ain't no delight either.

I beleive the posse is actively investigating a $500 bill auction on Ebay to see what holds it in place and to examine the apparant wet spot to see if it's a doctoring chemical or of natural origin.

PRESS RELEASE POSTED ON WEB SITE-

    Press Release - September 9, 2005

Numismatic Consumer Alliance Inc. (NCA) is pleased to announce in August of 2005 it secured a refund of $326,450.00 on behalf of a Florida numismatic coin investor/collector who purchased approximately 35 rare coins over a period of 2 years from a Northeast telemarketer. Through the efforts of the foundation, the aforementioned consumer's coins were identified as being over-graded and overvalued and, with the assistance of legal counsel whose fee was partially subsidized by the foundation, the telemarketer refunded 100% of the purchase price paid for the subject coins plus an additional sum to offset, in part, the consumer's loss of opportunity cost resulting from the rescinded transactions.

Perhaps they heard a whisper of a clue of a passing mention of a groundless rumor of an innuendo of the slight possibility of a scant chance of a threat of a lawsuit, and freaked.

They left town chasing some bad bad men. About the time this thread originated, 3 years ago, and haven't been heard from since.

Nobody knew who they were on the U.S. Coin Forun. Their identities were a deep dark secret, only those on a need to know basis knew. And the U.S. Coin Forum didn't need to know.
    image

They really weren't very busy, nobody was wanting their services. They had only had 1 case, a small time eBay powerseller who toned Morgans in old slabs.
    image

    The ringleaders discussed it.
    image

    Their boss agreed.
    image

They decided they would let the forum members handle it theyselves...
    image

The old timer board members that could smell a doctored coin 3 dealer's table away said "That's cool as hell!"
    image

They heard there were some shenigans going on on the World & Ancients Coin Forum so away they rode into the sunset.
    image

There they teamed up with some foreign sports cards collectors that were having problems with overgraded PSA slabs.
    image

Their antics rarely make the news here.

<<<Everyone is free to joke about it if they wish, and/or to complain that things aren't being prioritized/handled to their satisfaction. The fact remains, however, that Numismatic Consumer Alliance has helped buyers recover well in excess of $1,000,000 from disreputable sellers and discouraged those and other sellers from ripping off clients. Sadly, in the overall scheme of things, it's just a drop in the bucket, but I'll gladly take that over nothing, any day.>>>

What you just posted was the first time I ever heard of the Numismatic Consumer Alliance. Is that the "coin posse?" Why haven't we heard about it?

Well I finally figured out that I didn't have to register to read the news reports. Funny thing though, I didn't see anything about them helping to recover $1,000,000 for people that scammed with doctored coins.
There were 2 articles about recovering $16,000 & $11,000 from sellers of MS 69 & 70 bullion coins. Better look out Home Shipping Network & The Coin Vault, the posse is watching you!!!!
And a telemarketer that they made refund $326,450 for overgraded coins.
    That was nice.
So the coin posse is now the price police.
