  • motocrosser,

Hello......duh I already said it was...... If there wasn't a problem with the listing (Host error) I would not have pulled them.

I have let cards go at half SMR before. I always let it ride. But I'm not going to if there is an error that causes it to do so.

Thanks again, and please try and talk to me with some respect as a human. I am one you know.

    Sincerely,
    Lawrence D. Block

  • Block,
Put your shovel away.......You have buried yourself deep enough.
  • Dakota,

I hope that's a joke. I think you may be right, but I don't think there was any harm under the circumstances in what I did. Do you? I don't know how to make a poll, but I would be very interested to see one from people how have read all the post on this thread. If anybody knows how to make one, please do.

Thanks again everybody. I hope I get a chance to post under better circumstances soon.image

Here are the cards re-listed again

Assuming everything is truthful, I can understand why he ended the auctions. A seller taking a massive hit because of technical problems isn't really fair. If it was me though, I wouldn't have waited until 3 minutes left to end the auctions. I would have done it asap and personally emailed each bidder explaining the circumstances. Even if it was 200 bidders, it would have been quick with a cut and paste.

As for the Block-Dakota chat, maybe we can get MW to referee this. I've heard he's got some experience with friendly "chats" at the National. image
  • Hey, Ebay allows a seller to close an auction early. The guy is working within the "rules". If he wants to close an auction early because the price isn't high enough, I mean, having trouble with his image hosting within a few hours of the close, he is within his rights. I did notice that the cards with a good price were allowed to run their course and close accordingly. I guess that their pics were OK.....An amazing coincidence.......but what do I know?

Frankly, I could give a rat's a$$ about the whole matter. He is free to do business as he sees fit, and the public is free to choose as to whether they buy from him. However, coming on this board and calling out a board member for a "face to face" talk is just priceless.

If I have said anything that requires a "face to face" chat, I would be more than happy to go a few rounds "discussing" my comments. image

  • I've done some business with Mr Block in the past and have been very happy with the cards and the service I received.

Guys, we need to end this thread. It is going no where and anyone that has/had an issue with this guy should contact him directly instead of doing this over the boards. He has explained his stance and if you choose not to believe him then don't do business with him. Every wrong doing that happens in the industry can not be aired out on the forum. If the problem continues with a seller/dealer then the problem needs to be addressed.
Everyone has made some good points. We need to get back to having fun again.

  • Agreed. Enough is enough and no one's position on the issue will change from this point on.

    Larry Block,

Thanks for coming on and clearing the air. I will certainly give your auctions future consideration.

No happy threads here . . . Try the stamp board. Those folks seem pretty jovial.
  • <<<<<<<<<<Everybody>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Sorry for another posting and taking more of your time on this, but by the looks of some of the posts it looks like there is a boxing match between SixDart and myself.

My asking him to sit face to face with me was not a hidden message to fight with him.
He's an OK guy and we just have some old issues that I feel by talking face to face we can iron out.

    <<<<<<<<<<SixDart>>>>>>>>>>>

If you got the impression that it looks like a few others did, please don't mind it.
What I said is just what it means. I would love to sit down with you and iron some things out like adults as you said.image

Thanks again all. See you guys on a happy threadimage

    Lawrence,

I did not get that impression. Now, if you were BMW - maybe?

Your apology is accepted. Because your are man enough to make a sincere apology, then I am man enough to put this issue to rest.

    I wish you well,

    Marcus
  • I thought after all the posts about this guy, I would give him a chance. Bought and paid for $75 worth of cards. No big deal, but still mad at myself for doing business with this blockhead after all the warnings. No cards, no response to emails.

Why does SMR continue to accept advertising from this person?

Great post potatochip. You have some great things to say. Very informative and you are quite the funny guy. Go back and trim your cards and go get them graded by SGC and now BGS.

    You are cool.

Why did PotatoChip choose a cartoon of a waving dildo as his avatar?

And I wonder why the damn thing's smiling? image

<< <i>LMAYER is a great and dependable purchaser and I don't believe anyone could have a problem with him, he just doesn't bid excessively or aggressively. Translating into the seller didn't get a top dollar for the card if LMAYER won the auction.

    Just my opinion.

LMAYER has won maybe 100 items from me over the past 6 years! Always dependable, never a problem!

Ok, I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, as I have not read all the pages for this post, but............

    FIRST-IT IS AGAINST EBAY RULES TO CHARGE ** A N Y T H I N G ** JUST TO TAKE PAYPAL.

SECOND-IF SOMEONE USES A CREDIT CARD, IT IS AGAINST THE LAW TO CHARGE TO USE A CREDIT CARD

THATS TWO STRIKES ON ONE PROBLEM!

I have seen numerous posts on here about this guy----what the heck is the deal with him?

<< <i>This is just ridiculous. What else does this seller have to do to smear his own name even more? How could a buyer have any confidence that he would send a card if he let an auction go to completion? >>

EJGURU was like Nostradamus with the above quote from back on August 11, 2003.
  • Dang, I must be getting old. I remember this thread from the first time around, and that's including a 3 year period where I didn't post here at all! If memory serves, there was a related thread where Blockhead was taken to task for a really offensive avatar, and that his Uncle Sam replacement came from pressure from that.

Not knowing who he was at the time, at the 2003 National in AC he had a Koufax card I wanted, but he was 3x SMR when a same rated card sold (with better centering) for $1,000 less on eBay than what he wanted. The idiot wanted to debate me about whether or not the eBay auction really happened. Too bad I didn't buy the card on the Bay, just got outsniped at the time.

Wonder why? Did that loser call PSA whining that people were complaining about him? That would be my guess.
  • I thought Block had been booted from advertising in the SMR?
