    Trust me. You don't want a raw 1911-D. That's like shopping for a raw 1909-S VDB Lincoln or 1916-D Merc dime on eBay. Maybe worse. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

    But then, that may be why you put the image face after that question.

    I might consider a non-PCGS coin like NGC or ANACS or an ICG or even SEGS or PCI for purposes of authenticity (if not grade), but wouldn't touch a raw one, especially a key date!

    This goes for most gold, but especially the Indians. I may be mistaken, but I believe the $2.50 Indian is one of the most counterfeited coins anywhere.
