estate sale barber quarter- whats it worth? NGC grade in

darktonedarktone Posts: 8,437 ✭✭✭
I picked this one up at an estate sale about ten days ago. The estate was untouched since the 70's. Many nice coins at good prices but I only got this and a Booker T with nice toning. Other than the hit on the shield not many problems. What will it grade? Thanks mikeimage

Looks like decent luster and the high point details such as the obv hair below LIBERTY and the rev feathers look good. Unfortunately, I can't really tell from the picture if the coin in unc or not but certainly looks at least AU.

Definitely unc from what I can see. Field luster looks full, no obvious rubs on the highpoints. Probably starting at MS63, but 64 or better is certainly possible. A nice looking coin.

I can see no signs of wear or rub from the scan, My guess is the pcgs folks would go 64.

        I agree looks like a nice 63 probably 64 .

        Nice aquisition??
      • It looks really nice but I'd venture an educated guess that it would grade AU55-58. There does appear to be light friction on the cheek and a touch of rub in the fields. Nice strike, a few lines here and there and the mark on the shield but nothing out of the ordinary. Probably worth around $100 give or take based upon what I can see. Seems like an lustrous, nice and original slider.
      • MS63 if no wear, looks like an old dipping and retoned naturally.
      • It's either a super slider or a 63--very nice!

I really like this one. it looks to be a mint state 63. I don't think you get a much better grade than that form PCGS.

Hey guy's, I kind of forgot about this coin for a while and just sent it in for grading before Christmas. NGC posted the grade today but should I let others guess before I post the grade? mike image
