$1, 250,000. It actually won't surprise me if it fails to sell. The class III examples of this coin have never excited me. Who needs some publicity?

I'm in agreeance. I will be surprised if it goes for more than $1.5 million. I was dissapointed earlier today to see that the 1819/8 Large Cent in proof (purportedly unique) only brought $27,000.00 at auction. Many lots seem a little soft and under expectation. Still, anything over $1,000,000.00 for this coin is an awful lot of money, considering how many of them exist.

    reserve not met......due to 1913 nickel flap......image

Taking into consideration how hot the market is and what it brought at the Flannagan sale, I would guess with the buyer's fee a little under $1.5. I hope someone posts the minute we find out.

PR58 I dont think anyone will bid so it will close at 1 mil.

Rats! Internet bidding is closed so I won't be able to buy it! My guess is that no one will--the big news now is the 1913 Nickel--someone buying the 1804 will just garner a big "ho-hum". As Cherrypicking said--there are so many of them.

In view of the private sale for one of the 1913 Liberty nickels for $3mil yesterday or the day before, my guess for the 1804 III restrike, generously graded AU58, is $1.75mil + fees.

Being a class III, I don't think it will sell. Most folks who have that kind of money for coins would want a class I.

It will probably sell for a very strong price considering what a beautiful job that they did of plugging that huge hole!

Session three begins in an hour and 20 minutes. Lot #2026, the 1804 Dollar is about 25 lots in, won't take very long. Should be an exciting session for all these coins, fantastic early dollars!

I'd guess it will sell because it would be a stunning embarrassment for Bowers and Merena if it didn't sell. Probably towards the very low end of the reserve.

I would be shocked if it didn't sell. It would be a major embarrassment to Bowers and Merena if it didn't sell. All the pumping by Collectors Universe about what a hot market it is and other big coins trading hands and record prices being set all over the place and this coin can't break $1MM would really cast a bad light on Bowers and Merena. I have to believe that they knew someone would be willing to buy at the reserve price for this coin. If that isn't the case then whoever runs Bowers and Merena now isn't a good businessperson.

That was 1 funny auction. They hyped it the whole time and only got $50,000 over the starting price.

Not very impressive only two bidders in the "red hot" market....

Some people will say $1 MIL is impressive but with all the hype, I wonder?

I was listening to the live feed for a while and it seems that a bunch of lots are going for the internet bid.

No action on them from the floor.

Guess we will just have to wait for all the " prices realized" to sort it all out.

Maybe the market isn't so " red hot" after all.
