my message to all forum members & the toned ike dollar

the 1971-s toned ike dollar i had on auction, was not the one i have owned since the 1970,s, as i stated in my auction, which was posted on this forum..........i purchased that coin along with several others a while back............it is not the toning on the coin that came into question, but the story i told about the coin.......to start, someone on this forum posted my auction for all to see here............i received a pm from supercoin asking me about the coin. he tells me the coin looks very familiar, i reply back to him.............he sends me another pm, and asked me once again, if i was sure of my story about the ike dollar...........i tell him in no uncertain words, that the facts i stated were true........in the back of my mind i think to myself, this guy must have some kind of problem.............a few post later, supercoin post a picture of my coin i have on auction, and a picture of the coin he onced owned., and then tells everyone on this forum he does not like to be lied to, and that i have not owned my coin for the past 30 years............iam so damn mad, i cant see straight, who does he think he is!...........i then make a post, and try to defend myself against supercoin, and those who start to hack away at me......as of now the only thing on my mind is to make you look like the fools i think you are........i then think to my self, i dont have to explain anything to anyone....who do they think they are!.....so i deleted my post. an tell all, thanks a lot..................a few post later, supercoin comes back on, an starts talking about me being a good dealer, a loving father, and my dogs, and how iam not a straight shooter, and how i have lied.......i say to myself, thats the last straw...i will see him in court...........so the coin sells on ebay. the buyer tells me he doesnt care about the toning, he likes the coin. i tell him pcgs is wrong, and the toning is real, etc. etc. i even tell him if he doesnt like the coin, i will refund his money.................later on i send him another email, asking him not to purchase the coin, as i know iam going to need it for eveidence, because i now plan to sue supercoin for slander...........................the next day my wife betty comes into my office, and places before me my box of toned ike dollars, and says to me, you better take a look at the other 1971-s ike dollars you have, and what you wrote about them on the back of the brown envelopes...............because the coin, and the envelope you sold, on the back says ebay coin!.....................you dont have the right coin with the correct envelope......... i think you have some explaining to do she tells me......................so that is why i have taken the time to post this message....i have made a terrible mistake.....the coin i sold on auction is the wrong coin, it is not the coin i purchased back in the 1970,s...............i have all of them mixed up, and i dont know what coin belongs in what brown envelope......................i will close with this final thought......iam far from perfect. i have made many choices over the years, some good, and some bad.....but i also know i have always tried to be honest, and fair in my dealings....................for what its worth...iam truely sorry, and apologise to all of the forum members................ron ........... ps, i edited some words for spelling

heck, I can't always remember where my coins came from

that would be like if RUSS got mixed up on where he got THAT 1964 proof Kennedy from - he probably can on 10 or 15 but the next 5000 all look about the same

Ron, I think most forum members never questioned your integrity- I know I din't! People get coins mixed up all the time. I can't remember how many times I have heard somebody say they sent the wrong coin to be certified or they mailed the wrong coin. mike image

I know Tad to be a straight up, honest guy. If he questioned the accuracy of something I said I'd be very, very careful to check my facts before making counter accusations and especially before threatening a law suit. Something as simple as reviewing a box of toned Ikes would have avoided a lot of the anger, frustration and bad feelings.

O.K. I'm not going to beat a dead horse. This is a lesson to me (at 50 and forgetful) to check the facts carefully before call someone's intergrity into question.
The longer I live the more convincing proofs I see of this truth, that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice is it possible for an empire to rise without His aid? Benjamin Franklin

Dang! Just when I thought the lawyers were going to get their piece! image

Just kiddin' It's great you had the nerve and courage to step forward and admit your mistake and apologize. If everyone had that ability I'd be unemployed. image

Ron, glad to hear it's resolved, and my apologies for any false accusations... perhaps I've become too cynical being in this often-sleazy business for too long.

I'm looking forward to your other toned Ike sales, maybe I'll even buy one -- it would be particularly interesting to buy the correct coin that caused all the confusion. image

P.S. But I still stand by my statement saying I hope you're nice to puppies!! image

Ron, your last statement on our collections was interesting.

We are in fact preserving beautiful coins for the coming generations of collectors.

Perhaps that is why I am so careful in selecting coins with origonal toning

deep luster and string strike. Not only do we get to enjoy our coins, we are preserving

a part of America's history. It is a joy and a heavy responsibility to do the job right. Bear
