How do people get their designations?

I see a lot of designations by people's board names: Member, Senior Member,
Collector, Expert Collector, Veteran, Dealer, etc. I've even seen one designation of
"Whining Millwright H. A. Survivor". Other than 'dealer', what is the significance of
these?

Light hearted fun. No one here takes it seriously. Heck, I even had mine highjacked in the middle of the night about a year ago. It hasn't been seen since.

It's an indicator of how much spare time you have on your hands.

When you join the boards, you are deamed a "New Collector."
When you surpass 20 posts, you are upgraded to "Member."
When you pass 100 you become a "Senior Member.
When you pass 500 you become a "Veteran."
After 1000 you become a "Collector."
After 2500 you become an "Expert Collector."
After 5000 you become a "Master Collector."
After 10000 you can choose your own title.

There are many people, however, that are given special titles by the Administration without reaching 10000... a few of these are listed below mixed with some that did reach 10,000:

    kiefercoins - Ultra Good Guy
    coinguy1 - Dealer
tjennings - Bad to the Bone
    clw54 - Thread Resuscitator
mdwoods - Whining Millwright H.A. Survivor
    Hardlandman - Mr. Baseball
    Coinhead1 - I Likes Me Some Jello
Shirohniichan - Numismaticus Rex Dei Gratia
    keithdagen - Vox Rationalis
    drizzt - Cavus Impleor
    cosmicdebris - Ruler of Britannia
    darkhorse - Insane Evil Genius
    et al

Besides these, there are also our two administrators Carolj and Sportscardmoderator... and BJ too.

Wow... it took a lot of boredom to compile that list...

You're required to make 1 intelligent post to advance from the status of "member".
Once in a blue moon there's someone that'll go over 11 thousand posts without getting out of "member" status.
They claim the administration hates them.

    Ray,

Hey! I made an intelligent post once. Give me some time, I'll see if I can find it.

Someday I'll get to 10,000 posts! I already know what I want to change mine too! But you all are just going to have to wait!
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

I think the post counter is broke. I can only actually recall making a handfull of posts in the short time I have been a member here. Most of them were items for sale on the BS&T Board and I think I commented on a fingerprinted coin a couple of times that somebody posted from eBay.

I think Russ doesn't get his title back until he snags a proof accented-hair Kennedy half. On the other hand, the admins may just think "nothing" of him ... kinda hard to remember to restore something to a "nowhere man."image;p
