PCGS Authentic slab

I had a question on the older green label PCGS "Authentic" slabs. These date to around 1995 as per the slab label and are listed in the new slab collecting book as a sample slab. Were these given out at shows as samples, or were a test idea (still can be samples) to see if dealers and the public had a need for a non grading "authentic" label holder, much like NCS is doing now?

    Cameron...These were an item in a Random House marketed Scott Travers "Coin collecting starter kit." I believed we did either 50,000 or 100,000 of them...David
