Which are the least attactive coins of the 18th and 19th centuries?

Sure, everyone can find things they don't like about modern art.
So which of the older coins are less than high art?

Actually, there are no coins from the 18th or 19th century that are less than high art. It must have been a trick questionimage

    The 19th century rules!!!

I agree with Tom. . .I can't think of a single coin I don't like from either the 18th or 19th. Something was lost in the beginning of the 20th century (with the exception of a very few coins). What the heck happened?

If you want ugly coins, I suggest you look at:

    Shield Nickels
    Most Liberty Nickels
    Most Three Cent Nickels
    "Vou invadir o Nordeste,
    "Seu cabra da peste,
    "Sou Mangueira......."
  • Seated (fill in the blank)
    Bust (fill in the blank)
    Trade dollar...Liberty on the loo...

i don't have an example for 1700-1799, but for 1800 to 1899 it has to be the 2 cent piece.

The point is moot when you have the Ike, Susie, and Sac already out there. I don't find any 18th or 19th century design unattractive.
The problem starts in the 20th century.

I don't care for the classic head half and one cents. To me liberty looks like she just finished a sweaty 1970's era exercise class. Ugh.

I am one of the few fans of shield nickels, though!

  • I don't care much for the large cents or the two cent pieces.
    Go well.
  • Morgan dollars. I still say the chick on the obverse looks like a drag queen.

  • Matron head large cents would have to rank right up there for me; she makes the Morgan and Barber portraits look like the essence of feminine beauty.image

They are all classics and worthy of a bent knee in holy worship.

No Tyler, only mint state barber halves are worthy of bended knee worship, the rest just pails in comparison [except the holy grail which is mint state bust dollars] Les
