I just got my NIKON COOLPIX 4500!!! First pictures inside!!! (Actually there now!!!)

Man, what can I say? This camera is simply FABULOUS!!! Here are my first pictures- the coins were placed on my bed with a reading lamp nearby... all pictures were with the camera held by hand, no tripod or any steadying device... I can't wait for something to hold the camera in place! Please tell me what you think of my shots! image

By the way- I must say... compared to a scanner, the luster picked up is amazing! People aren't kidding when they say that's a huge difference between digicams and scanners!

A nicely toned 1945 cent (BU, from TomB)- the obverse has most of the toning, but that shot didn't really come out

One of my toned eagles- the color didn't show really well on either, but the immense detail that the camera picks up is evident... man I love this thing! (The camera and coin image)

Away from coins... image

My gecko, Oscar- just about 5 1/2 years with me image

Spot, the tortoise, doing what he does best- staying put in the heat image

Speedy, the guinea pig, who knew he was having a portrait taken... sorry about the water spots on the side of his cage... had him for nearly 5 years, too
image

This is my room... where I sleep, think of coins, post, and look at airplane pictures image I like airplanes!
image

Sorry about Mike Richter- had the poster for a while so it stays... I still hate the Rangers
image

My scale models... all hand built except the two tiny 747s

Enjoy!

Jeremy

PS- these were all done point-and-shoot... no reading of the manual required image

Wow those are some really nice details on some neat looking coins. Good job on the photos! I`m impressed with the Eagles. I`m surprised to see that you could pick that much up in the fields in the second picture of the Eagle.

The details are better in the full image (obviously)- that image is about 1/16 the full size image, which is 2204 pixels across.

Cool shots. The manual is more like a book. I have been learning mine the last few days. What a camera image
The white balance deal is really great. What a difference over a scanner. Why did I wait so long.image

I vaguely remember you talking about buying this camera in an earlier thread. Where did you end up buying it, and what was the price if I may ask??

I got the camera at Walmart- after shipping and 6% taxes, it was $636 ($599+ crap fees)... then there is a $200 rebate to drop it to $436... a GREAT deal!

Excellent pics Jeremy! If your 4500 came with a 16MB CF card like mine did, you'll be upgrading it soon. I bought a 256K card.

BTW, a Phillies pennant?! I'm surprised!

I won it at a carnival in Toronto about 8 years ago. All of these pics were taken on a 340mb Microdrive... I'll be getting a 256mb flash card soon, as well.
