  • I've been to their site. I collect Buffalo nickels. They have several I'd like to buy. I have emailed them several times on the poor quality of their scans. They have ignored or haven't read them. So of course, I've never purchased from them. image

They handle good coins and are extremely knowledgeable. Ask for Liz, she knows more than most guys who have been in biz forever!

I've bought coins from them at shows. As Laura says, they are real good people to deal with.

JJT is a knowledgable, reputable firm. They will not overgrade a coin or misdescribe it. If you are not fully satisfied, I am sure that they have full return priveleges for a period of time.

I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.

They appear to be good sellers. Only gripe I have are the colorful descriptions they have (at least for Barbers) that are cleaned monstrosities. At least they have a scan so you can decide for yourself if the coin is a "Sharp strike. Soft gold toning over lustrous surfaces" or a cleaned looking turd! an offering

    Just my opinion though.

I personally have done little biz with JJT, but that's not by intent. I have many friends who speak very highly of Liz in particular, and in my limited interaction with Liz I have found her to be both extremely knowledgeable and ethical.

I have not had, and likely never will have, any compunction in doing biz with JJT.

Teaparty is an excellent firm that makes to strong effort to pick out properly graded coins. Quality always costs more, and at Teapary you get what you pay for.

Liz is one of the best in the business. She combines talent with honesty. Teaparty is a great collectors' dealer.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

They offer quality coins and do a great job. I have bought from them and I probably will again.

Baron, before you buy that 1922 Plain cent, make sure you're purchasing the "Stong Reverse" variety, and not the "Weak Reverse".

  • Nice people, old time coin shop atmosphere, mediocre inventory, affinity for raw coins and minor league grading services, occasionally over-enthusiastic descriptions.

I keep them on my internet favorites list, but just barely.

    Listen to Flash!!!!!!!!!!!!

the die pair 2 (strong reverse) is the only true No D.
Die pairs 1/3 are not worth the big bucks even tho people buy/sell them as if they were because PCGS slabs them as NO D's! Anacs calls them "weak D's".

    I'd rate them a 8, on a scale of 1 to 10. A decent outfit.

Their prices are very high, but they generally have nice material.

I used to buy bunches from them. The raw stuff became more of a nuisance, not slabbing etc. and it turned me off.
They were always more than courteous to me, and if you are a "regular", they will treat you right.
I'd still buy from them, without hesitation, but it would have to be something special if you take into account the prices charged.

  • A no problem company. The only thing I have ever found curious ( and I haven't done this check in awhile so it's a slightly old observation) is that coins they have listed on e-bay had problems disclosed when the exact same coin on the web site made no mention.

No problems in many transactions. I bought my first slabbed coin from them in person at their Boston storefront (a 1904 Liberty Double eagle, PCGS MS62, cost $575) in 1989. Liz and now Gail are both very nice people.

I have only found one coin I wanted on their website, made them an offer a little less than the price & they accepted. Good no-nonsense people.

  • If they don't have coins you like, check out their inventory of books. Some hard to find titles and very quick delivery. Thumbs up.

  • With all the praise, it's now time for a little constructive criticism. I collect seated liberty dimes and the selection is horrible. Most of the raw coins have been cleaned. Most of the encapsulated coins appear "washed out" and have very little eye appeal. Further, my want list remained open for 2 years without a single coin being filled. I have since found the coins elsewhere.

I would like to add that the 2 times I purchased a coin from JJTeaparty were very professional transactions. No complaints in the service, just the selection. It all depends on what you're looking for.
