Anyone here have a Norse medal?

BlackhawkBlackhawk Posts: 3,899 ✭✭✭
I've always been impressed with the design and shape of the 1925 Norse medal and was wondering if anyone on the forum has one that they could share with us. How may of these coins were made and how easy are they to obtain?

Thanks,
Bill

The silver Norse medals are fairly common. The thin one with a mintage of 6,000 pieces is scarcer than the thick one, which had a mintage of 33,750. You should be able to find pieces in MS-63 or 64 for $200 or less.

Few collectors know it, but there were gold Norse medals too. They were smaller and since the mintage was only 100 pieces, they are quite scarce are seldom available. The price runs into several thousand dollars.

There were also just 75, three inch bronze Norse medals issued. I have never seen one of those.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

They're pretty easy to find. I show seven on eBay right now.
