I'm a collector of high grade toned Buffalo Nickels. I've been collecting for yrs and will list my coins into the registry once I'm 90% complete. I will make the #2 or 3 position and I see this happening within the next yr or two.
as you know I am a collector. I am not sure how long it will be before I give up the set, but time will tell.

I guess i will come out of hiding I also have a passion for the Buff's. I am the # 3 current finest
pcgs set registered It has been fun to collect these things and upgrade as I go. It is tough and expensive going from
here on out though! I thought this thread was getting a little buried so this will bring it to the top again
with this post. There should be another couple of buffalo nickel collectors showing up for this thread!!

I have the whole set of nickels in unc. ms-60 to ms-67
each set has its own appeal
jeffersons are easy to get in unc grades but with full steps now thats a challenge!
buffalos are hard to find in unc grades! I have my set all in ms-64. Not a top registry set but still a nice set.
liberty nickels are the easiest set in unc my set avg is 63.5
now the shield are the hardest. the 1880 in business strike is the rarest nickel to find in any grade let alone ms grade
you can find them in proofs but a full set of ms-grades is quite a challenge.

Nice to hear from you again and hope to see your set in the registry. Don't forget to include the images. What position do you think you'll reach? I recently lost 2 buffs to you at the B+M Rarities sale in Jan. I think it was you an 1914d ms67 pop 4 coin along with the 1924 ms 67 pop 3 coin. 2 very nice coins I needed for my set. Oh well I did pick up 2 other nice Buffs. Rick H has a very nice set and I"m sure he'll make the #2 position by the end of the yr. It would be nice to hear from the Illinois collector.

No I do not collect Buffaloes but do know one of the guys that has one of the top rated sets. And of course I know Dennis.
Buffs are darn pretty but Adolph's Pretty Little Lady (Merc Dimes) gets my attention and always has.
Good luck with your collection.

In response to "Rick H has a very nice set and I"m sure he'll make the #2 position by the end of the yr. "
It is almost imposible to do that unless #1 or #2 sell there sets. there are not enough coins to go around to get that high a rating and as you know those pop 1 coins (among other low pop coins) are tied up in Illionois and McCarrolls sets
for who knows how long. Hey, why don't you and Buffalonickel jr donate (sell me some that i need) and i would be close
Howdy fairlaneman glad to here from you on a diffrent thread than fishing lures. gotta love them Mercs Oh thats right mercury is a ford product

Are you actually thinking of going to the P.N.N.A.
coin show in tukwila, Washington? great show! the biggest in the N.W.
with 100+ tables sold. Sad to say that i will probably not find any upgrades for my Buff set, But will have some nice slabbed indians and slq's to sell!
Wanted!!! 1926-s pcgs ms 64 Buffalo Also, 1927-s pcgs ms 65!!

I try to never miss the PNNA show. Might not make it this year because of this Flu thing thats going around our area. Been Dead for a week now.
Hey you still have the Indians and SLQ's ? Can't believe someone has not relieved you of them. Beautiful coins.
Anyway I hope to see you there and if not have a Great Show.
BTW the little Mercs are hard also. Found Zippo last year at the PNNA.

This is my first post, as I just received my password. I am putting together a proof buffalo set. I would love to put together a ms set, but can't afford it with the other sets I am working on. With an indian and a buffalo (bison) what more can you want.

Welcome to the forum and yes I love those proofs too. Did you see that 1915 pr-69 buff that just sold at heritage auction? What a killer toned coin.
Yes, there were several neat Buffs in the auction. The 1915 was great. The 1913 ngc type 1 in 68 was really nice. It did have a pvc spot in the lettering. I was able to buy the 1913 proof 68 type 1 pcgs buff after the auction. I have two toned 1913 type ones in 67. Actually their toning is nicer than the 68, but I wanted the 68 for the registry set. I have a 1916 in 68 with neat color. My 1914, 1936 type 2, and 37 all have color and are all 68's. Definitely hanging onto this set.

Bill!!! Nice to see you on the boards. If this is the same Bill I'm thinking of...and since you mentioned the 1927 Specimen it was a give a way for me.....is that the 1927 Specimen you bought from Larry and I a few years back? If so, glad you still have it.....neat coin for sure!!
