Any thoughts on how to get rid of the haze on the reverse!

If your camera has a white balance adjustment you may want to try different settings. It looks like a pretty strong FBL to me.

I'm seeing a hit on Frankies cheek, and it also appears to be some chatter in the field to the left of Frankies head. The reverse seems very strong and I'll agree on the bell lines, they seem full, though maybe a hair soft to the left of the crack in the center. A 62p is a tough find in FBL, this is a Frankie if priced right, I would buy it!

  • Just a guess. MS64 FBL at PCGS. Forget the haze on the reverse, you cant get rid of it. image

  • Hey Ken:

I can't vouch for the FBL, as I can't see the critical area near the bell where most of these coins lose that designation, but it does look like a very well struck coin, which you do run into with this date on occasion. The hit on the cheek and the chatter behind Franklin's head are going to make me guess MS64 conservatively on this one. Let's hope FBL go along with that! image

It could be PVC damage on the reverse. If it is, that's not haze; it's a hole on the mint surface.

  • I think what everyone is seeing as possible PVC is actually rub marks - I've seen pictures where contact rub marks come out looking like this.

The trouble is the rub marks, if that's what they are, are in protected areas. There is dullness on the bell, but the same dullness is to the left of the bell too, but not to the left of that. Without seeing the coin you can't know for sure, but the coin looks Unc. to me with possible chemical contamination.
