  • I should be there at some point on Saturday, probably around lunch time. Sadly, no real money to spend though.

  • I'll be there Friday morning. I'll have to see about Saturday. I might make it Saturday morning, too.

Gonna try to make it on Saturday - but no real money here either (already shot the coin budget for the month image ).

Do you know if there will be any good darkside stuff there?

It varies from year to year, Cecil. I believe Mike Grant of the Arlington Coin Shop will have quite a bit of world (and US) coinage. There has been a steady increase in the availability of nice world currency, though. Check out Gary Hill's table for world currency ... but please wait until I've cleaned him out. image

  • Was at the show from early morning to mid-afternoon yesterday. Floor was active with quite a few attendees...I'd say about 20 more tables than the Grapevine shows or about 75-100 tables. New venue is comfortable. With the stormy weather today, the floor should remain active.

    Bought two dimes.
    Go well.

Today saw something of a slow start, but from 10 AM on, there was a pretty steady flow of traffic. The gist I got from dealers was that Friday was a bit slow but decent. There seems to be somewhat "subdued" traffic levels at most shows this year and it seemed slower than last year. However, there was no problem moving quality coins. I have to say I didn't spend as much as usual, but I did make a number of nice buys, mostly currency, but some coins too (all Dark Side, natch' image).

I agree with Joy ... the venue was very nice!! Fountains, greenery, and so forth. The only forum member I managed to run into, though, was Construct. He showed some nice finds he picked up and most people I talked to were pleased with the selection available and said they bought more than they had expected they would. I did manage to snare one soul for Dark Side currency collecting and with luck he'll be joining us on these boards, as well as a young man who's an ardent coin collector and a great YN prospect.

I'm looking forward to TNA in three weeks now!imageimage

Wish I would of seen this thread earlier... could of gone. Well... I had a lot of work to do today, so I guess it might of been best that I got that done.

I need to start saving up for TNA anyhow.

All the more reason for a coin showimageimage. Would much rather be there, than work.

  • I was there.image

I picked up 1837 and 1838-O seated dimes and 1837 seated half-dime for my type set. I also got a 1913 ANACS AU-58 half eagle, an 1851-0 trime in VF, and an1802 large cent in VG, along with what I call some dither coins.

I was impressed and very happy.

Unfortunately, I don't have a scanner so I can't show them off on the forum for your admiration. You all know what these coins look like.

I turned down an 1877-CC dime in AU because of hairlines so you can be assured that I got what I paid for.image

I'm also looking forward to the TNA show. I'll be there with bells on and ready to buy. I'm still looking for a certified quarter eagle lib to complete my major gold type set. (Okay so I don't have a type 2 dollar or $3 piece. I still figure I'm doing all right on my budget.)image

  • Spent about 3 1/2 hours there Saturday afternoon. Very little buying or selling going on that I could see. For most of that time, you could have ridden a bike down the aisles, it was so empty. I think that I maybe asked to see three coins total, and I would have had to stretch to really want to buy any of them. Didn't seem like many dealers had been able to get any new inventory since the Grapevine show a couple of weeks ago.
