Help me grade this 3 cent silver

I am looking at a 3 cent silver piece (1852) and am going off of pictures. My photograde book does not have these listed. I realize the pictures are not great so how about giving me a range (low-high). thanks

You are right. It is rather hard to grade this coin from the pictures. It looks to me that the basic grade is EF or AU. I'm basing this on what I see in the center of the obverse. The shield is strong except for some weakness in the center, which is common for these small. thin coins. The coin has been dipped, but that's not huge deal for coins on this level.

The date appears to be weak from what I can see. This is also normal, but it also lowers the collector demand and the price along with it. If the date is that weak, look at the VF or low end EF prices. That's where this coin will fall if the date is that weak.

I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Agreed. EF, but hard to see well in the pics.

Guys...I think that if I sold this to you as a XF you would tell me that I overgraded it... I would say for a 1852 that it is VF money Jon
