Texas Lincoln collector/dealer dinner during TNA?

I was hoping to organize an informal meeting during the May TNA in Fort Worth, possibly on Friday night after show hours. Board members please reply or PM me...y'all know who you are. I'm also working on tracking down the likely suspects who are not regulars here to include them in the gathering. Let me know...

    Keith,

You WILL be required to prove ownership of at least one PCGS Lincoln to be included...if that is a problem for you I'm sure you could fix it by visiting some of LincolnCentMan's fine eBay auctions (shameless plug for business friend that I just asked a favor of). image

I'll followup in this thread with a lockdown on time, place and attendees after I get some confirmations in.

Man, with a plug like that... I'm in for dinner. I'll even bring a PCGS cent image.

    David
  • I actually own seven, count them seven, Lincoln cents graded by PCGS. Granted, two are on E-Bay. image

Looks like we're getting a good start to this...plus I have a "definite maybe" from two guys that don't frequent the boards.

    jbsteven,

Absolutely...just sell me one of those killer MS67 Morgans you have for 5% back of blue and you're in! image

Bringing this back up to the top to see if anyone missed it the first time around...I was thinking of posting on the US board also but who knows what kinda undesirables we might get then. image

I also bought a 1945 Lincoln in PCGS MS66RD at the mid-cities show just to make sure I meet my own requirement for getting in...

You guys ever been to Angelo's? Great BBQ and plenty of room. They also don't care if you hang around.

I just hope we don't have to wear nametags.

I remember going to a Angelo's in Ft. Worth when I was a kid, they used to have sawdust on the floor. I will never forget that place.
  • Count me in. I have a cent or 2.
  • Jay..

Dickies BBQ is a little better.... And a nice shinner to along with it...

OK to all who are going...what kinda food would you prefer? My top two choices (in order):

    Pappasitos: Tex-Mex
    Pappadeux: Cajun

There are also a bajillion BBQ places nearby if no one likes my suggestions.

Once I get some feedback I'll make sure we are welcome (I won't mention that we're all coin guys when I make the reservations). Time is after the show Friday (7:00PM).

Who's coming so far: dpoole, keithdagen, blade, LincolnCentMan, jbsteven, Spooly, TheNumish (implied acceptance), redcents, src57, jy8s (possible), Mike Sadler, Andy Skrabalak and myself. I might have left someone off the list also...too busy lately.

I'm sure we'll get a few more before we're done here, too (or is 13 a lucky number?).

I personally would reverse them, but both of those choices are excellent.

And I must say that you would be hard pressed to assemble a more motley bunch of characters.

Hmmm...lap dances at the Registry Reception...hmmm...

Sounds fine. But what if Cameron wins the raffle again??
  • I think we need to state the rules before (or just exclude him image )

I would have a good chance of winning the prize again since I always seem to win.

Lap dances for the prize? Don't exclude me Carol! I can offer up my prize to dpoole this time since Good Guys wouldn't usually accept that kind of prize.

    Cameron Kiefer
  • Cameron:

To win the lap dance you will need to attend the Texas show. The best we have to offer is a little something to eat and a drink.
You should go and win the prize. All your Texas buddies would love the opportunity to corrupt you a little.

Bad news: I can't make the Texas show.

Good News: I won't be corrupted by my Texas friends and I will keep my Good Guy status.

That's OK, Cameron. The party was just for Bad Guys, anyway. imageimage
  • Hey now. If the Andy is my Andy from Angel Dee's no corrupting him!
You can say hi for me and tell him I'll see him in Long Beach.

This is a dinner not a weekend in Vegas! Andy will not be participating in any of that crazy and wild stuff...no way am I spending all day Saturday working a table with him if he's all tired and grumpy. Plus he says he only accepts dances from the fine ladies of PCGS. image

I will also not be involved in any after dinner activities; I am a happily married man and plan on keeping things that way. If you've ever met my wife you would understand (of course I wouldn't let most of y'all get near her image ).

We'll be going to Pappasitos, 2704 West Freeway. 7PM (show closes at 7 and its maybe 2 miles away). Directions from Dallas: I30 West, exit Forest Park, continue on service road. Directions from the show: South on University, East on I30, exit Forest Park, turn left/loop under freeway and go west on service road. Their number if you need help finding it 817-877-5546. It's TCU graduation weekend so everything down there is going to be packed...I was warned that even with preferred seating we may have to kill 15-30 minutes in the bar at first (hope no one has a problem with that image ).
