Another Ebay scam - upadted: listings pulled - yes!

coinguy1coinguy1 Posts: 13,484 ✭✭✭
current listing by scam artist with no feedback history

previous listing of identical coin by reedededge

other items currently for sale by scam artist

I KNOW that no one will get taken on the 1929 $5 above, because a "friend" of mine bid on it. And, he REALLY wants it badly!image
The other items currently listed by the seller are not coins, however, so my "friend" did not bid on any of them. If anyone can offer conclusive evidence that these other listings also involve hijacked images, I might be able to persuade my "friend" to bid on some of them, too.

Wow, look at that list of other items! image A whats-what list of just about every type of item that is heavily scammed on eBay, including Rolex watches, digital cameras, camcorders, expensive Honda parts, and high end car audio equipment. Most every auction description has been lifted from legitimate sellers. Every item ends around the same time on the 11th. While the eBay coin crowd is generally street smart when an auction is a scam, looking at the bids on the car items and electronics gives you a new meaning of the eBay term "bidiot".

Wow! Honda and Acura used car parts, stereo equipment, Rolex watch, gift cards, etc. Sounds like a police report list of stolen items to me.

And notice he he only takes money orders/cashiers checks.

Here's an article just published regarding ebay's "anti-fraud" software. Certainly the scammers realize that they are free to conduct their business as they please.

I just happened to recognize the 1929 $5 when I was doing my most recent search of new NGC and PCGS lsitings. I really would like my friend to bid on the other items - if only there was a way to match them to previous sales....

Most of the folks who are bidding on his auctions have zero feedback or low single digit feedbacks. Sounds like a big time shilling operation as well.

Mark, will your friend bid on that half eagle?

coinguy, since that "friend" of yours is involved in one of "jimmysdiscount" auctions, he can request "jimmysdiscount"s contact information from Ebay. Why don't you have your "friend" do that and report back here?

    Ebays contact information request.

contact information below - the phone number is no good. Does someone know how to quickly contact Ebay to get them to pull the auctions since the contact information is no good?

    Name: Jim Jones
    Company:
    City: Tacoma
    State: WA
    Country: United States
    Phone: (253) 875 - 1915
  • you only get contact info when you win the auction. you can only ask seller a question until then.

The nerve of some people. Coinguy1, I guess your friend will get the non-paying bidder deal. Too bad we can't email The bidders on any of the other auctions. Appreciate you letting us know.

There is a Jimmy Jones that lives in Tacoma but his info is the following:
    Jimmy Jones
    6250 S Ferdinand St
    Tacoma, WA 98409-1222
    (253)475-7933

But the phone number that is listed in coinguys' "friends" info belongs to this person in Spanaway, Wa.:

    Acena, Timothy
    2809 282nd Street Ct E
    Spanaway, WA 98387-9528
    (253)875-1915

Madmonk, if you have the time or energy to do so, you can email ALL the high bidders on the other auctions. They are not private auctions or at lease the few I looked at were not. Just click on their name and you can e-mail them through E-bay.

all the legit bidders prove that it's no fluke that we have an image of P.T. Barnum on one of our commemerative half dollars. I think we might be up to two or three a minute by now, however.

edited to add: as usual, nice catch Mark.

I E-Mailed the seller and asked about the coin... I got this response!

<< <i>oh, that is no longer up for auction, it was a mistake >>

WOW the guy closes down the $5 gold, and cancels the 4 bidders out - for awhile I was wondering if possibly affiliated with reedededge, but probably not.

Scamcrook probably got cancelled out on that item but at least they found some other stuff to interest them from 'jimmysdiscount' - I see they are high bidder on 19 of their 43 auctions -

    DCAMFranklin, you asked

<< <i>Why would that happen, unless he lurks on this Forum?? >>

I don't think he lurks on the forum (he only had one coin lsited) or he would have pulled other listings too. He probably got scared off by being questioned about the coin.

how bizarre - jimmys(fivefingered)discount cancels scamcrooks bids for "no feedback" although they have no feedback themselves and they let other no feedback bidders stay.
  • jimbo is gone from EBAY

  • I sent jimmysdiscount an email thru EBay congratulating him on being suspended by EBay. He actually replied: "why was I suspended" (like I would know or be involved in the suspension process) My answer: "fraud investigation" Funny thing, he never replied to my last email. If you would like to contact Jimmy Jones, "JimsDiscount@aol.com"
