Hi folks...

Need some help, so thought a little fun contest might work....
Starting a new coin show in White Plains, NY thats Westchester County
(30 minutes north of NY City). The show will probably start in October and run
the first Saturday of each month.

Here is the help needed....we need a great name! Any ideas?
If your name is picked you will receive ???? something....

    Or you could sub Westchester or Westchester County for the White Plains.

    George Washington Money Expo (since GW was there during the battle of White Plains in 1776). You could try to tie it into the George Washington HQ Museum. (140 Virginia Road, N. White Plains 914-949-1236; 914-941-0757)

    Since so much stuff is retro (laughable term) these days, how about a real retro term:

    Five and Dime Show

    I did a quick google search and others seem to use that in a retro context. And since most collectors are older, that might be enough nostalgia to bring them out.

    I did like the Expo suggestion......and I loved the NYCE because its Nice like the FUN show in Florida....but the suggestion about Tri State since we are near CT and NJ is very valid....what do you think....

    and Monthly are also good.....
    We would love to be a strong monthly 1 day show...and since the Parrsipany show is doing so well on the 1st Sun of each month...we might be able to tag team up with some bigger out of state dealer who would do us Sat and NJ on Sun? keep em coming and thanks....Jon

    Make it short and sweet or an anagram -

    you need to answer the cell phone when people call a couple hours before closing and need directions-

    you need to pay for advertising, most local papers are by the word or line-

    you need to convince enough dealers to rent space from you to cover your costs-

    why do you care what I think - I think I will never go (unless I get that job I am looking at near Buffalo),

    Both of those seem good - you are from that area, make sure neither sounds or looks like any presently going on to lower confusion.

    Are you going to include paper money? Foreign, Canadian?? or leave it up to dealers?
    There are probably shows going on now, are you going to stagger with them or be in direct competition (same day) as them?

    Are you going to have give away drawings? Are you going to have a small auction near closing time?


    How about sportscards, comicbooks, other?

    Just curious in case I get the urge to do something similar near me.

    How about The NY Money Show? Or, The Coin Collector Convention (CCC)? I like the "expo" idea, and the NYCE, but the New York Five and Dime has a particularly pleasing ring to it.

    YES...to including paper money, foreign, etc....that will be up to dealers and market...but no not looking to add cards/comic books/stamps... yes drawings...lots of crazy publicity stunts to attract the media (cant tell you here) speakers, refreshments, etc....
