Is this a counterfeit confederate?

Was looking at this coin - any chance it is one of the original struck, or of the 500 restrikes -> or is it just bogus?

  • The obverse appears to be fairly crude and unlike any genuine 1861-O obverse........ Even the Scott restrikes used genuine 1861 half dollars as their host....... Sorry, its BOGUS

    Yep! It's one of the many reproductions of the Confederate half dollar that have been made though the years.
    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
