Now why couldn't that '58 look like that '56? I'm lookin' for one of those.

Mike-- I will concur. Have seen coins in original mint sets that look very much like each of those.

Baley-- you've taunted Gilbert with that 58 before. Gilbert's a nice guy, so I think you should give it to him. You'll feel strangely invigorated.

Carl, I tried to get the 58 to Gilbert in trade for a coin i needed for a set but he doesn't have any circulated type coins, only morgans and franklins. Maybe you could trade him one i need for one of his that he could trade me to get it. image

The first 1958 is unquestionably of mint set origin and I bet it's far nicer when tilted around. THe third looks to be more of an album tone rather than mint set, I have some in a Wayte Raymond album that are shaping up just like that. The one in the middle I'm not sure about.

The second coin may have come from a mint set. The coin below which is deep red was from a double mint set. I would say the toning is somewhat similar. image

Thanks Clank for pointing that out! image

Baley, you "tried" to get it to me? Ooookay. Trying would be to name your price and use the funds to buy whatever coin you're looking for. But as they say, patience is a virtue. image
