Hompage Featured image!!!

Fingerprinted, looks dull, and in an NTC slab... I sense cleaning, not a 65, and a BIG problem for a bidder image

A coin of that magnitude in an NTC slab absolutely means it would be body-bagged or net graded at a real grading service.

I sure don't like that color.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

    Did you read his blurb?

    12,700 Positive Feedbacks=12,700 Satisfied Customers!

well he has 7269 "satisfied" users. But he also has 29 negatives and 54 neutrals.

    Basically he is a liar
  • nwc - A counterfeit 55 DDO? Are they really that good that even NTC would slab one? I would think this is one Lincoln that would be tough to fake (unlike, say the 14-D, 09-S VDB, 22 no D, etc.) Please elaborate..

    Mike

Edit: I saw the description on coppercoins.com - very interesting!

Looks genuine but terribly washed out. Luster is not readily apparent.

Looks like a harsh cleaning. JMHO.

  • Oreville - Have you heard of these being successfully counterfeited? It's a new one on me...

Betcha NTC is not very good at recognizing all the ways a counterfeit is made...
  • That article at coppercoins.com about the counterfiet is about a coin that was mine. It got by me and my dealer. ANACS caught it and I sent it to Chuck so that he could do an article to educate people. By the way, my dealer did reimburse me......Ken

KSTEELHEADER: I wonder what your dealer did with that counterfeit cent?

coppernicus: I previously read the superlative article by coppercoins on the counterfeit 55/55 DDO cent. This NTC coin does not fit this counterfeit coin's description and does look genuine from a initial first glance.

But everything else seems to be very wrong about that coin. I can't believe the price it has gone up to.

  • KSTEELHEADER: I wonder what your dealer did with that counterfeit cent? I really don't know what he did with it. And I'm not going to ask...............Ken

If it were genuine it would at least be in an ANACS holder. In any case, you gotta love the userid of that high bidder with 0 feedback - chlucky. If he wins it, he can easily change the userid to unlucky. Or, I wonder if he is a shill?

It would be kind of funny if it was a cleaned counterfeit, fakes are better left originalimage-------------BigE

I think this dealer is less than honest. I would stay away.
