Gorgeous 1958 Washinton 25c / NGC-MS66 Blue mint set toning.

Just recently won this beauty.
I love 1958 coinage. They seem to have abundant nice toning throughout all denominations, especially the Frankies, Washingtons, and Roosies.

I like how the blue flows thru the hair. Very nice coin.
  • Very nice Quarter. Great job on the price too.

Nice coin! I have also noticed that 1958 was a good year for attractive toning:

    Baley,

If I haven't already, let me beg you to relinquish that '58 Washington to me. I am having the hardest time putting together my '58 birthyear set - with that caliber coinage. Why am I being so unsuccessful? Is everyone here born in '58? image

Yep, that's a nice coin. I have a raw one that is just as nice, if not nicer. Great luster, and beautiful blue.
Yanked it from a mint set, of course! 20.00 bucks seems cheap for a really nicely toned example. I know for sure there is no way I'd sell mine that cheap, especially if I went to the expense of having it slabbed.

brian, you mention that you love 1958 coinage. They seem to have abundant nice toning throughout all denominations, especially the Frankies, Washingtons, and Roosies.
and I wonder if you could post some more pics of your other colorful 1958 coins.

madmonk, '56, '57' '58 were very good years for mint sets in cardboard. I think they went to mylar in 1959, ending the "cardboard years" at least from the mint, some folks still used cardboard national and whitman albums.

gilbert, the pics of coins i post aren't usually available, but would like to help your quest for a monster birth year collection, would consider a trade if you happen to have a coin I can use for my collections, will send apm with a short want list, I was born in 1967 so if you happen to have a cameo sms half? image

Agree with Baley the 56-57-58 mint sets have some special coins out there. Here is a quick pic of a Franklin in my keeper 57 set. Still have all the original packaging, just moved the coins to a different holder than the cardboard.

Brian-- nice 58. Baley-- beautiful coin.

I've busted so many of the 55 thru 58 mint sets I actually feel a little guilty.
They better be killer for me to spend current prices though.
Thank goodness I bought them when they were 25% of current prices, and when they werent so picked through.

Clankeye, 57 set looks very pretty. 57P with any semblance of rainbows are rarer than people think. 57D more apt to find that kind of color. What Mint do you have pictured?

    Monk--
That is the 57-D. The P mint in the set is nicely toned but not with the green like that one. It is more of uniform gold and blue.

Clankeye, yea, gold and blue is what you predominently see. Thats why I don't have a 66fbl yet. Only when I find a more unique specimen.
