  • Yes,

Most forms of cleaning (especially polishing, rubbing, or buffing) is bad for a coin's condition and value. Some professionals can do proper coin dips to remove crud or pollutants at times, but it is generally best left to professionals, or to people who have low-value coins on which to practice.
  • Only if you like dirty coins that are worth more money! Dont dip coins so long that they look like wood, and never polish them!
You can fool man but you can't fool God! He knows why you do what you do!

Kind of like taking your original, restored 1963 cherry red corvette into the garage and giving it a paint job from a case of spray paint picked up at wal-mart.
