Another Ebay overprice

Mercury MS64

How on earth can this guy say that this coin is worth $100. ?
PCGS value is $16.00
I've got my eye on this to see if people just bid without looking for the true value.

Says it comes with an "insurance appraisal for $100".

As silly as that is, it's not quite the same thing as claiming it's WORTH $100...

  • I guess that if it is stolen you can rip off the insurance company for $100 on a $16 coin

Yes, and it's not even PQ. The surfaces look dull and lifeless.

  • True, but how can you give an appraisal of $100 when it lists for $16.
Does that mean that anyone can write an appraisal without true regard to actual value? No insurance company would ever honor that. I see it as a little deceptive advertising. Lulling the newbie into believing it to be worth $100

kind of like when you buy an engagement ring for $2,000 and they "appraise" it at $20,000 to at least try and make you feel like you weren't completely reamed and exploited by the diamond marketeers.

you and the dealer both know darn well he wouldn't give you $100 for the stupid thing back. as a matter of fact, the only one who thinks it worth more than a gold plated shard of glass is the girl standing there looking at it.

This dime has not only been graded MS-64 by the Professional Coin Grading Service but has also been placed in a "plastic protective coin holder."

He might have simply looked in the wrong column and thought this was a PR64.

"Don't miss this opportunity" That would have been my first warning, the second is an appraisal of $100 on a $15 1945-s in 64 with no bands. He's been added to my "Avoid seller like the plague" list.
