PDA coin price database

Has anyone started this project yet? I have quite a large database of Ebay Completed auctions and wanted to know if anyone has tried this yet.

Does anyone of you use a PDA and would be interested in software like this?

I have no use for a PDA... but I'd probably buy one if I could have up-to-date coin prices in it (like Lucy said.)

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

  • I have the databse all I need is the programmer , well I can create this software on my own since i have the tools to build it but my ADO skills are not all that good.

If I could get my hands on .NET compact SDK I could build it.

  • I think it would be a great idea. How far back will the data go (30 days)? How will the database sort the different descriptions like PR69 DCAM or PR69DCAM or PR69DC?

i think i need some sort of code book to read this thread.

    PDO SDK .NET ADO

    2 Cam-Slams!

  • It can can go back 30 or 60 days depends on what majority ( all of you ) think it should be.

I have spent a month on these scripts to sort of the differrent DCAM CAM and so on.

So far I have PCGS and NGC in the BETA database and thats 15 days with 12,000 plus records.

  • You can look up the greysheet on a PDA if it has wireless internet.

  • Brad - Can we make it part of our Website and use it on our desktops?

  • I can make it part of a website with no problem and same with a desktop.

Right now find a wireless access point in a trade show is very slim, and to find one for a coin show that is slim to none.
You will of course have to pay for the access if there is a access point at a show.

Now for wireless internet AKA wireless IP , most convention halls have very bad signal strength.

WiFi access point everyone , I so look forward to the day.

PDA = Personal Digital Assistant (like a Palm Pilot)
SDK = Software Development Kit (software that programmers use to write more software)
.NET = A Microsoft set of technologies to connect stuff to other stuff
ADO = Active Data Object (a programmer's term used with working with databases.

  • I'd be interested in the database. I've used my ancient PDA before to take want lists and pricing to coin shows, but it uses Excel spreadsheets.

  • The database would have a clean user interface and will be searchable by YEAR , Denomination , and Design , and if yall want Grading Service.

  • There is a problem with the application. Here is the text:

    Server object error 'ASP 0178 : 80070005'
    Server.CreateObject Access Error

    D:INETPUBWWWROOTFUSIONPUNCH.COMWWWVALUESHALVES../../_fpclass/fpdbrgn1.inc, line 35

The call to Server.CreateObject failed while checking permissions. Access is denied to this object.

  • Yeah thats actually not pointing at the database, I had to retract the the database since I was hit by the SQLwurm.

Ive just been so maxed out lately with work that I have no time to get any free time. 75% of Verizon orders are fried right now so Im going to be busy again tonight, and just so happens 50% of Siemens orders are not shipping due to a HP server spilling its gutz. Dont buy HP!

How many days should I have the Ebay coin database go back to? 30 , 45?
I will also have a second much larger database archiving everything to give a line chart diagram for other purposes.

    running to meeting.
