I thought Lottery type auctions like this one are illegal on eBay.

    Can you say...SUCKER?
  • Prolly a bunch of junk that didn't make the expected grade....coins that are worth less than the cost of the slabbing fee. There used to be a site called www.cheapslabs.com, that way you take the mystery out of it!

I ran one of those once with over 50 low grade slabs, not a mystery auction, but a lot of "what the hell was I thinking when I got this slabbed" auction. They fetched almost $10/per slab.
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

  • an obvious scam to sell junk. Junk some dummy will buy for sure. Twenty dolllar gold my ass. We are dealing with scum here for sure.

Cheapslabs.com is still around, as far as I know...

You have got to be out of your helmet to get involved in this deal. An earlier link showed this seller offering an ACG "PR-69 Cameo" Franklin half @ a friendly $1,000 opener.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    It's still sitting at $202.50.

  • I may bid on it just for the hell of it so I can tell you all what was in it.... I'm what PT Barnhum was all about!

I don't think it's that bad. For collectors on a small budget or people just starting collections, I think it would be a great item to win (provided it closed at $250 or less).

It's at $10/slab. It's a nice way to get rid of coins that would only bring $4 or $5 as a single!

  • My thought there is that he must be scared to tell you what is really there.
  • Right now I'm the high bidder but I am going to retract my bid since I found this: coincidence? I think not
Looks to me that this seller bought one of these from bluemooncoins previously, found the coins to be crap and is reselling it again, atleast they could have changed the descrpition alittle and not make it so obvious. image
