Opinions Needed: 1869 PF65 Shield Nickel

Assuming that you like toned, proof coinage in ANACS holders, how much would you be willing pay for this coin?
And do you think (best guess) that it could cross over to a PCGS holder? Thank you for your consideration.

I had ulterior motives for posing that particular question.
Just call me a crossover rate troll for doing that. But say it
in a nice way. You never know who's watching

I like it just where it is and also think it may be just one or two flecks of carbon away from a "PCGS" MS65 crossover (although it's MS65 in my book- easily).
Great coin!

OK, I like that your post was intended to mess with our minds, so I'll answer all your questions.
BigD5 - Yes, that is the coin you are thinking of.
WWW - The cross over rate is 50%, as you can see from my submission below. The 5c did not cross on that day
LINE # CERT # COIN DATE DENOMINATION VARIETY GRADE
1 90063269 1912 50C PR62 (NGC PR62)
2 90063270 1869 5C DNC (ANACS PF65)
Baley - proof 65.2 +/- 0.7, - Probably a very accurate call
FC57Coins- I'd put three zeros after expensive and Baley is it available? you guys need to pay better attention or you'll keep missing out on this stuff.
Braddick - Asthectically, you're right. I think this coin would look better in ANACS or NGC instead of being lost in clear PCGS plastic.
So why do we want to cross it over to PCGS?
I bought this coin for the simple reason of "because I liked it". I was crossing over my 1912 Barber proof into PCGS plastic because, well umm, I'm ashamed to say it but I'm playing in the PCGS Registry game so my NGC doesn't count her.
This coin was the most expensive non-PCGS/NGC coin I own, so it showed up to the top of my list with the lowest ROI. Now if I could enter in the "Value" using the CU price guide I could pretend my collection is worth much more than I paid for it. Seems a little bit dumb after I bought it, but my accountant would appreciate it.
But I never got what I paid for from PCGS, which was $30 for their opinion on it. When I got it back, I called PCGS to ask about it and the customer service rep said if it's NGC it's probably 1 point lower and ANACS 1-2 (duh?). But he went and asked the graders and called me back saying that if they had the coin in hand they would be willing to discuss it. Even though it would have been an great educational experience I didn't want to put another $25 in shipping to talk with them about it.
I'm glad to hear about the new DNC policy. I wish they did it earlier.
Also, that is a coin you have to see in person to understand. The coin looks exactly like the photo, but under different lighting and angles it doesn't.
So if you like it - buy it. But keep it in the ANACS holder.

It's been my experience that black spots and not hairlines are the most common cause for down grading Proof nickels and nickel three cent pieces. Copper-nickel is really hard, but it is reactive to the elements.
