The phoenix will rise again and fly ever higher.

BearBear Posts: 18,953 ✭✭✭
With the exit of a number of the loud, raucus and other souls, new people will

now be given the opportunity to bloom and flourish. Nobody need stay who is offended

by the rules, and nobody need leave who is content and satisfied with what this Forum offers.

In time ,people realize that no single person or group of people is irreplaceable. We will go on

because that is the nature of things. I wish well all who have left, but having made their decision,

the rest of us will go on with our collecting and communicating on this Forum. While the ground will

shake for a few days, the natural order of things will be restored regardless of the periodic

inflammatory and sensational announcements we may hear from the dissatisfied and discontented.

It's hard to put into words, but we have lost something... something about "family" comes to mind.
For the phoenix to rise again, we must admit to ourselves that we have lost a part of "us". image

Always good to see the cigar smoking dog Frank.

You are among the people who make this Forum a family.

In life there sometimes comes a time when a family must split apart

for the good and welfare of all. The freedom of choice is left to each of us, which part of the

family we are most comfortable with. There is no right or wrong ,there is only the choice.

Things are a bit quiet here on the western front. The free-for-all that starts on fridays isn`t around. Interesting.

Dan, a Phoenix is a mythical bird creature that lives and at the end of its life span, flames

up and burns to ashes. From these ashes, it rises once again ,more beautiful then ever.

It is a wonderful parable, teaching rebirth and renewal of life, hope and the human spirit.

    Bear,

Other than the cigar smoking dog's ashes, there are no ashes for the phoenix to rise from.

Nothing has really changed here. People come and go for various reasons all the time. People often visit multiple forums. Yes, its popular to voice concern over the banning of members, but little has changed. I always visit NGC and spent quite a bit of time over at NumisAddict tonight. I found it interesting over there due to the apparent mass migration that has taken place. But as I am here I also notice that many of the folks visiting over there have also posted here this evening. These are just other cyberstops in the cyber world for those of us that choose to spend time in this strange manner.

The CU forum appears to be the largest, therefore assembling the largest pool of knowledge. People will end up here for that reason alone as I believe the primary reason for the existence of these forums is the thirst for knowledge. Rest well tonight as I know it is bedtime for all little bears. Fatman needs sleep as well. Good night to our busy little bear friend.

  • Bear... I'm sorry - you're describing a Phoenix. image I knew what that was.
It's also a city in Arizona.

I'm just messing with you. image

  • There is nobody to blame for the new rules except all those who participated in the childish behavior exhibited over the last few weeks. Those who stirred the pot and created controversey and conspired to form a vigilante group to go after the doctors and sellers of coins are to blame, they do not understand this business and David Hall was smart to nip it now. Actions that were being discussed on here could have undermined confidence in the coin industry and hurt many peoples livlihoods. And for what, what purpose would it serve that would even approach the serious damage that could have been done by short sighted dudley do-rights spouting off and pointing fingers accusing people of something without proof. I congratulate Mr. Hall for putting down the insolent members who were stirring up trouble for troubles sake. The group was getting downright frightening everytime they went after someone and even sicker was these people looked foreward to who they could flame next. SO, thank you Mr. Hall for putting things straight and ending the reign of those members who thought that they were all knowing and the hobby's watchdogs. They were half right they were dogs who days of running in a pack are over now. There is justice.

Doctor of Tone, whoever you are and I suspect you are not a new member, that is one of the most inaccurate, exaggerated descriptions put forth about this forum I have read. Besides being childlike and finger pointing. Please provide one shred of proof how anything typed in here has hurt one persons legitimate livelihood or damaged the coin hobby.

Posts like yours illustrate better than anything why censorship is a lousy idea.
  • Trust me, there were skeletons about to be uncovered and the market could have lost faith just like the Arthur Anderson-Enron financial meltdown did to Corporate America and its finacial reporting systems.

To anyone who is tempted to respond to the doctor of bologna - why waste your time? It is obvious from his posts that he has an agenda and he doesn't have a problem with speaking nonsense.

Specifically, the "posse" he has mentioned, obviously had nothing to do with David Hall's recent actions and comments. The bologna man is apparently nervous about the consequences of what he and/or his buddies have been doing to coins and to people.
  • I agree with coinguy1......but my spelling of bologna would have to be bullogna.....I have already seen where this Bonehead is here only to try to disrupt things. He clearly needs to be disregarded.........

  • People who do not do their homework and those who like to listen to snake oil salesman have been getting cheated since Adam. The people who cheat them have been laughing and calling them "sucker" behind thier back since Adam. Those people have been dying since Adam. Those who cheat people do not escape. The wheel turns slow but it turns. Those who cheat people will have to give up their ill gotten gains when they meet the Death Angel. "Doctor" in reference to coins is not an endearing term around here. Go on about your business and seal your own fate, leave us alone!image

I agree with the comments of the experienced board members. But please, everyone, could we lay off the anti-doctors sentiment? It is getting to the point that almost wish that I went to law school or "CEO" school instead of medical school.

Perhaps, we can come up with a better term for "coin doctors":
    coin alterers
    coin destroyers
    coin disfigurers

Something that has a (more) negative connotation.

  • To put the thread back on its tracks...

Thank you, bear. I think you are more accurate about the near future than some will admit.

Some basic things that have ruled my life and have made my life a great one:

    What goes around comes around.
Having people that love you and respect you is a cool thing.
The love or respect you give is proportional to the love or respect you receive.
Honesty is best delivered with soft gloves instead of a steel hammer.
    Everyone has feelings.

Now, to make it coin related - I got a common G-F buffalo in change yesterday! I think I'll spend it at a place where kids go...

  • Coinguy, et al,

There you all go again, the name calling, the lack of respect, the negativity, the "get out of here" type comments, the better than you know it all attitude, the he must have an agenda so disregard him mentality and finally the developing of these wild theories to fit your needs,(i.e he must feel guilty about what he is doing to others). The same old characteristics that I have seen for months now. Why do you all have to be like that. Just look at how you are as agroup. I am sure that each one of you is a fantastic individual but put you people all together in a forum and you get a group of complete jerks. It really is a pitty and I wish I could disclose who I am, but I know some of you from shows and on this forum and I don't want to burn bridges and upset people.
