Right now the is a 1952-S in a NGC MS64FBL holder, I'm waiting for 1 more Frankie to arrive then the registry set hits 90% and I get free gradings! I'm going to crack and submit this and a 1948-D NGC MS65FBL with my submissions.
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!
From the scan, Your 52-S looks like a lock 65. I have more than a full set of Frankies, but a whole box of sweet ones in NGC holders. I'm a little torn about spending the money for crossovers. If I decide to cross, It will probably be the ones that I feel will get a FBL first. My set is ranked 57 when I last looked. I could bump it up real fast with a few crossovers, and then get the free grades. As a side note, sometimes I wish they would do something for eye appeal, cause my set has that in spades. Maybe some day.
Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that held its ground.
Marty...there is no reason to be mad about your Frankie. It is a very nice one indeed. I can easily agree with the 64 but can not be sure about the FBL. If NGC says FBL it is likely the case. But the scan combined with toning makes it hard to see.
I've never tried. I guess I should give it a shot. The Marketing approach is evident, but I really havent fallen prey. I entered mine in PCGS out of curiosity. There again I'm curious. Also any crosses I've done, have been to get a FBL, where PCGS is not as tight.

Here are my two favorite 52-S pieces, a 65 obv, and a 66 obv & rev. The 66 has claims to FBL (that would be sweet!)
I am just amazed at how people are allowing themselves to get sucked into this marketing gimmick!!
Someone doesn't allow my coins because they are not 100% in their holder, then it is THEIR loss. Not mine.
