Counterfeit and grading services

Are there any grading services that you wouldn't trust to distinguish a counterfeit or altered coin?

Sure there are - but we're not allowed to say which ones.

    Absolutely, NTC

I have a great MS-66 RB NTC IHC that several experts have said is a modern counterfeit (electroplated dies). It also has a big flat spot on the cheek. Probably without the flat spot it would have gone MS-67. image

Would you trust PCI or SEGS over a raw coin?
    I would anytime.

Well, I wouldn't say That Which Cannot Be Named, but I will say that I would not trust any certified coin not in a PCGS, NGC, ANACS, or ICG holder. All other services are crap (in my opinion).

imageThe same crap HRH talked about! Oh No, he was just talking about PCGS! Get a clue guys and you should trust whomever until they give you a reason not to trust them!

At that point, it is a business issue, not a forum issue!image

jeffnpcb, I don't understand what you are saying.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
