There really should be a change of "rules"

Don't LINK a current eBay auction here you if you don't want others to become aware and then bid on it.
That is only fair (especially to the Seller!).
If you don't want the competition- don't LINK it here until the auction is over and you've secured your bragging rights to the coin.
(WingedLiberty- BID on your colorful Mercury! It's only right you own it- or at least make an effort to do so.)

I think the "rules" are quite simple. In a free market place, everyone will act in their own best interest.
If you see a coin you like, bid what you would be willing to pay for it before the auction closes.
A better rule is that everybody should yeild to MY wishes, but for some reason other folks don't share that opinion.

wingedliberty should have known he was asking for trouble when he tries to make others think that there is some "rule" that the first person to post about an eBay coin is the only one who gets to bid on the coin.
First of all, if we played by that "rule", that would be aginst eBay rules (interfering with someones auction) and possibly illegal (a form of collusion?).
There was a time when the forum was small enough that there was something of an unspoken "gentlemen's agreement" that we didn't bid on coins that we saw other forum members bidding on a coin.
But now that the forum has grown so big, even though someone tried to make this a "rule", it is no longer feasable.

Sure, Braddick! When's the last time a thread titled. "Hey, Look at this FR-02 on eBay!" produced a rash of sudden bidders?
Just kidding, of course.
