A pretty modern commem

I slabbed this one right out of a C&C set...I think the color is beautiful...and it has been improving slowly with time. The scratches are on the holder, not the coin...PCGS called it MS69, but I think it is even better than that. Thanks again Russ!

Very pretty coin, Monsatvet. So are you saying this coin is continuing to tone in the slab?

Sorry if the pic is not showing up...boomspeed.com seems to be having some issues today...

I have had the coin for ~3 years, both in the C&C set and since I submitted it to PCGS. IMHO, the toning has continued since entering the slab, but at a slower rate. I think that had it been left in the C&C set a while longer, it could have been a real monster.

That's beautiful, Monstavet. I have 2 just like that and I'm hoping that thet will continue to tone as nicely while they remain in their sets. How is the nickel doing????

The nickel developed much more uniform brown toning. It went 69FS and I sold it...so I don't know now...but their is a forum member around who could tell us!

    very cool monstavet.

i regret having not entered numismatics yet when these came out and have been trying to avoid spending the bucks on one of those sets -

  • These are really easy to find toned because the packaging wasn't very secure. Add one of the better designs in the 90's, and you get a winning combo.

I got a purple-toned reverse on my Jefferson that ended up 69FS, and at one time, owned a nice MS-70 of this piece with really nice rim toning similar to the one pictured.
