NumisEd, you must be having a senior moment as you didn't read my comments correctly. I said that there were most definitely MS66 1794 large cents in existence, but I didn't say that the coin pictured by Adrian was a 66 in my opinion! And by the way, the finest known S-30 is not the ANS coin, its an EAC graded 65, ex. Maris, ex. Oscar Pearl FPL, 1944, a stone cold flawless gem currently in the possesion of a good friend. The ANS S-30 is ex.Winsor( Chapman Bros, 1895).

NumisEd isn't old and grumpy, nor can it be a senior moment, he is only 39 years old..

And by the way, NumisEd, those reddish marks on the cheek are planchet impurities. They are most definitelt NOT circulation marks. I saw this coin raw at the auction preview in Jan, 02.

Tom, perhaps you are having a senior moment, as I never stated that the ANS was uncirculated. I said that it was graded EF-45, but that it had an incredibly strong strike, comparable to Adrian’s coin, er, uh, I mean slab. Sorry Adrian, I forgot that you collect slabs.

And as for Lucy’s comments, I am not surprised that she keeps such accurate stats on every male member of this board. It is obvious that she is trolling the forum for men. I see over and over again in her posts how she is hinting about relationships. In one thread last week, she actually threatened that she was going to bid on DorkKarl’s………well, I will let you look back at that thread to figure out the rest.

Lucy, fyi I have been an angry old man since I was 15 years old. That’s the first time that I actually say a Franklin Half. Being “old” is a state of mind and not necessarily a label one receives by passing 60 or 70 years.

As for Adrian replying, he will not. This is not the usual thread whereby everyone kisses his royal hinny and, therefore, he has moved on to starting new threads to satisfy his daily need for public praise.

In closing, if you want to call this coin a 66, then feel free. One thing that we can all agree on is that it is one he11 of a beautiful coin. I have never denied that. But how dare I challenge PCGS’s grade!?! Even though Dr. Sheldon himself graded this coin as MS-60. I am sorry. In the future I will NOT make negative comments or speak my mind. Instead I will simply pucker my lips and kiss everyone’s A$$. Perhaps then I will be welcomed into the forum as a valued member. Sorry that I made a few of you think over the past few months.

the Kitty has a good memory... and I tell you what Eddie, I dont have to troll for men... Its very easy for me to hook up with someone if I choose to.... Dorkkarl is a cool cat, who hates slab coins maybe as much as you do....

NumisEd, Do not consider changing for a second. It is important for people to speak their mind on these boards. But we who do speak out need to be prepared for the heat! And we actually agree on the slabbed 66 large cent. I had net graded it a low mint state grade due to the planchet impurities, which are a distraction when you actually see the coin in person. Had to laugh when I saw it post auction in a 66 slab, but then again, PCGS does not see many of these early copper pieces, with the exception of the Naftzger Collection bought by Eric Streiner in the early 90s. Jay Parrino of "The Mint" had first shot after Eric and ended up slabbing a great many early date large cents, many of which have been happily de-slabbed by EAC buyers in the ensuing years.

Welcome to the boards Tom, I did get a chance to see the coin in Shylock's photo at FUN, what a delight it was. Hey Ed I enjoy your comments, but don't get so defensive and personal. Its not your message that ticks folks off, it's your delivery and reaction to others.

Agree with Shylock - looked much better in person at FUN.

Dragon.....the snake with the most potent venom in the world is the Davidrino Hallesko Viper. Can take you out with one quick move.

Second to that may be one of the Sea Snakes or possibly the Saw Scaled Viper. I know that Sherman Minton in one of his books said that 86% of the people bitten by the Saw Scaled Viper died.

As an aside, over 1800 people viewed the cent on eBay made the topic of this thread. From the for whatever it's worth department.

AWESOME coin. The slab, I dunno. I would prefer it said something MS64.7 +/- 0.3 BN
