Something important - Bin Laden CAPTURED?

Here is the imformation from the DrudgeReport.com

From the Drudgereport...
BBC: White House denied rumors circulating in Washington that it's about to announce capture of Bin Laden...
JERUSALEM POST CLAIMS: Bush expected to announce capture of Bin Laden.... 'According to Israel Radio, US President Bush is expected to announce the capture of arch-terrorist Osama Bin Laden'...

That would make my week.

Did somebody say "change"? Is it quarters, dimes or cents . . . . . sorry I was one-tracking again!

  • I'd feel much better about it if it wasn't Matt Drudge reporting it. He's about as accurate as a SCUD.

If they would have interrogated him here he would have been placed at a country club and they may have been permitted to ask him questions in between rounds of golf. Glad they got to "talk" with him somewhere else and loved the way the news hinted at that(the different means of interrogation outside of the US) the other day when reporting his capture.

I surely hope this is correct.

But the war on terrorism won't end with OBL. There are a bunch of morons waiting to take his place.

This is great news! If Bin Laden has been captured it will free up vast government sources that may be redirected towards capturing coin doctors!

President Bush's message to the country will go on as planned. Ari Fleisher's press conference prior to the speach has been concelled. That is what began the swirling rumors. No news organization has confirmed the capture. Hopefully, good new is forthcoming.

I guess all the Dem leaders won't be able to get their camera time claiming, "What about Bin Laden?".

I hope that I don't sound too hateful for saying this, but if we got our hands on him, I would not want us to announce that we captured him. I would want us to "interrogate" him in secrecy until we're satisfied. Then, I'd want us to "interrogate" him some more just for the sake of retribution. By "interrogate", I would want us to apply the best that the Dominican order ever came up with.

When we can "interrogate" him no more, I would not care what else we did with him as long as he no longer sees the light of day.

Thank God the people with the power to make that choice, are wise enough to follow the convention. Those kinds of thoughts put the lives of our captured soldiers and "advisors" in danger. I understand your feelings. Though I'm certainly glad level heads prevail. image

So far no other leak about this bin laden capture.
  • gmarguligmarguli Posts: 2,225 ✭✭
    1) Bin Laden is dead. Has been for a long time.

    2) If he were captured, we probably wouldn't know about it for a while until after they got some info from him and went after his friends.

    3) If it were announced and it were accurate, we'd have every news organization on the planet running the story non-stop.

It's BS. OBL has been "captured" a few dozen times since 9/11.

Well, so much for the premise of a WISE Ol'Bear.

I'm sure glad clearer minds are in control of that decision.

Your kind of revenge would only place the lives of our captured, brave soldiers in jeopardy. Kind of a

    shame.

Terrorists have never and will never play by the rules. They will torture and massacre and cut off limbs of those they please no matter how we treat our captives. They are not soldiers and follow no Marquis of Queensbury rules.

  • Oy!

  • DCAM,

I don't disagree with you. Although I would hope that our troops already understand what to expect. I mean these people don't think twice about slicing the throat of a newsman and are still skilled in medieval torture. I doubt anything we say will change that or what our troops can expect. IMHO

Larry- A few additional points. The journalist was not just a journalist. He was a Jewish journalist. Big difference in that part of the world! This was a Jewish journalist trying to obtain an interview with any high ranking Al Queda leader, though specifically Bin Laden. C'mon, that wasn't the brightest move. I'm extremely sorry for his death. Yet, I think his actions were unwise.

Secondly, Bid Laden is their supreme leader. If we were to, I use Bear's words, "drag his dead body out and burn it to absolute ashes", then I think we could expect the absolute worst for soldiers, citizens, journalist, etc. Can you imagine the situation if Sadam had been successful in his attempt to assasinate President George H. Bush??

Unfortunately it seems that the reports of bin Laden’s apprehension were pre-mature. The White House says that he is still at large.

I know that the cliché is “Wanted Dead or Alive,” but I honestly don’t want bin Laden to be captured alive. If we took him into custody his dim-witted fans would be raising hell all over the world.

I think that bin Laden should be treated like a raccoon that is suspected of having rabies. In the cast the raccoon you cut off the head and send it to a lab to be tested. In bin Laden’s case you cut off the head and check out the DNA.

Check out my little pin that I bought after 9/11. It sums up my opinions on the subject.

Deep Cameo - What we are talking abour are fanatics. They dont attack military targets

they kill unarmed civilians, children. You cant reason with them, you cant negotiate with them,

you cant plead with them. The only thing you can do is exterminate them. How can they murder

in the name of a compassionate God. How can they demand that All people think like them, worship

like them, dress like them. They would like nothing better then to kill as many of us as is possible.

As we get further into this war on terror, we will suffer many unfortunate casualties, perhaps then,

and only then, you will begin to understand the meaning and intent of the terrorists. All wars are a

horror, but we as Americans have been under attack by these terrorists for a decade . Now its

pay back time. It is a war with no mercy, no quarter and on their side , no live prisoners.

    Bear,

I agree with that post 100% (The one to Deep Cameo - not the "Carried away" one!).

We all wish these terrorists would just go away, but for now, we need to deal with them in the only way they understand.

In a way bin Laden and his ban of savages are worse than Hitler and the SS. Hitler had no real god except maybe German nationalism. He killed for greed, power and glory.

Bin Laden thinks that his god is on his side and that those who do not believe he does should be exterminated. He is into a take no prisoners stance, and we need to act accordingly. Bin Laden is a true sociopath. He can’t be reformed or cured – only eliminated … like a rabid raccoon.

Now they are saying they did not capture Bin Laden, but have narrowed down his whereabouts to a small area.

The only thing those terrorist fanatics understand is brute force; they cannot be reasoned with.
