OT: what's amazing about this place...

Despite our bickering about this and that opinion and issue, I'd like to acknowledge two positive truisms about the vast majority of the folks here:

1. When one of us has a sincere question, or a sincere call for help, we can't jump in quickly enough to give sincere advice.

2. We support our men and women in uniform, whether military or civilian, who put their lives in danger so we may have the freedom to bicker amongst ourselves.

No matter how much we will kick, scratch, yell and glare at each over differing opinions regarding the politics of coins or the world at large, I think the above two statements are fairly factual.

I think this is a pretty amazing place...

I had a brief moment this morning, where it struck me how much like a family we all are. And then I read a few more posts and it struck me how much like a family we are. And I thought of my Uncle Jim with his bad puns, and my cousin Erica who hates the rest of us, and my opinionated brother, crazy-as-a-loon Aunt, and YES! We are family!

So I took a deep breath, and forged on ahead.

    There's no place like home.

Well said EVP. Watching the forum evolve over the last 2½ years has been as much a study in human behavior as a numismatic education. As the population has grown there's been many down cycles when it seemed to be coming apart at the seams. The growing core of well intentioned posters have always managed to revive it to a new level of interest. The quality of most of the people who now post here regularly gives me a good feeling about the hobby and human beings in general.

There are times I prefered the good old days when the forum was a little cozier, but in that respect its a microcosm of life in general -- information is so readily available its almost overwhelming!

Here...here! Let's not forget our family, friends, and fellow Americans who are out there right now protecting us from harm's way.
Some refer to overgraded slabs as Coffins. I like to think of them as Happy Coins.

Just when I think that all the bickering is driving me away, I see marvelous stuff come through that brings me back into the fold.

One of these days, I'll have lots to add that will approach the positive impact of yourselves.

    Cheers!
