Jefferson Nickel Registry 1971 No "S"

It was a tough decision to crack this one out of the gov't holder, but I'm glad I did! Would this fit perfectly into a Jefferson Nickel Registry Set or What

    Hi Bob,

I know that you are relatively new to the message boards, but it is generally frowned upon to be marketing your wares on the U.S. Coin Forum.

If this is what you're doing, then I kindly suggest that you move this to the Buy/Sell/Trade Forum. If you feel that this coin is of Set Registry material, then you could, I suppose, make mention of it in the Set Registry Forum.

    Regards,

    EVP

Nice coin Bob. The no-S is tough and I don't look at it as marketing at all.

    hello, hello

now jeff, you are at once commanded to stop making pertinent posts!!! perhaps this could be our weekend flame-athon topic--------to wit, all members who whine and attempt to enforce some type of quasi- forum rule must themselves be walking as they talk, lest they appear as a hypocrite. using a signature line link to advertise auctions is no different than just posting them in a reply. oh yeah, and while we're at it, isn't it about time that the Forum Police be required to update their profile to show a
REAL name and not some cutesy acronym or something?? get out in the open or maybe keep comments and criticisms to yourself. image

imagekeets, look at the post! It is as real as it gets! 2 on the flight deck, with 1 in the hanger! Collector only, no ties, no sales, straight forum only!!

Should we start a new post! No one allowed with links to their sales or web sites at bottom! ANACONDA FIRST TO GO!!
    Let the mud slinging begin!!!!image

Bob, Keep up the posts, at least with your link we have to type it in!!!!image

I seem to have gotten lost somewhere here. What in the world is
    EVillageProwler talking about???????????????????????? Ken

..........what he's talking about is the good ol' american double standard. you aren't supposed to post athread at this forum with an intention to sell, but it's OK for everybody and there grandmother to put a link in their signature line or to have something relative to their business or web site there. they are one-and-the-same thing. just a technical difference

  • Ok , I see! I know a lot of people like that. " the old do as I say, not as I do " thingy! POT..........

Hey guy's nobody is trying to attack Bob Green personally these are the rules that forum members have gone by since before most of us were members and EVP is totally in the right with his tactful coments and if he did not alert Bob to the forum rules somebody else would have. Here's my thought's on the matter that I wrote in another thread.

<< <i> The link in your signature line to your website is fine because any person that is interested in your coins can click on it if he wants to check it out but if threads are started for the purpose of selling your coin or what is percieved from other members as selling your coin it will eventually cheapen this forum in quality and it will be more like a BST forum (several sellers push the limit of what is accepted and several others think this rule does not apply to them because they deal in high end coins or something else they deem special). Like I said in an earlier post just post a picture of the coin after it is sold and there will be no confusion if it's a spam thread. mike >>
Here is the whole thread if you are interested. And by the way in my eyes EVP is one of the most respected forum members and I have been reading his posts on this forum for years. mike image

          Folks,

I posted what I posted because I *thought* that was the agreed-upon rule that the old-timers and the admins came up with a couple of years ago. I also *thought* that putting stuff in your signature was acceptable, as long as it's mainly passive.

The reasoning, as I recall, was that it would curtail the amount of solicitation in a forum dedicated to the discussion of coins. The Set Registry forum, as I recall, was ok for advertising coins in a limited sort of way (don't ask me to explain, because I seldom post there). The B/S/T forum is dedicated to the merchandising of our wares.

It may be that I am wrong, but this is simply what I recall. I understand that some of you may well disagree with me. But, instead of blasting me right away and calling me two-faced or whatever, perhaps you can at least give me a chance to offer some sort of explanation.

You really don't need to viciously attack at the first sign of a perceived misstep...

Finally, if you think about it, the intent here is to try to organize the content into their intended forums. It may not be a perfectly implemented idea, but is it really so bad to try? Do we already think that this forum gets pretty cluttered pretty quickly?

........perhaps this is an example where judicious use of the PM function would have been warranted, informing an offender of some supposed transgression. and while we're at it, why doesn't somebody write down all the unwritten rules??? image

.......aw, c'mon Mr. Anonymous policeman. does this mean i'm under house arrest or posting probation cause i ruffled YOUR feathers!!!!! go ahead and crack on the original ill-mannered reply if you'd like to get into a tassle with someone, but get off me. i just call 'em like i see 'em with no apologies to someone who doesn't like my frankness. if one of your old timer cronies had posted in a fashion you like about a "rule" you're in sync with, you'd be on the bandwagon applauding. seen it happen way too many times. so please excuse me if the shoe fits a bit too tight. image

Being frank is not the same as being rude and ill-mannered.

Perhaps due to the dearth of acumen or the overwhelming mass of cranial bone matter, I hardly would expect you to comprehend this point.

You want frank? You mis-behaved and are now trying to justify your mis-behavior.

.......hey pappy, don't bore me or the forum with another etiquette lesson. this is a case in point where i ain't alone in my feelings. too bad that doesn't sit well with your highness. are there any other salient points of decorum that you need to bring to my attention?? please hurry since i need to be leaving for work soon and i'd hate to have to wait till the morning to respond to your idle wanderings. all should be on the edge of their seats waiting for instructions from Mr. Anonymous poster about the forum fine points of etiquette!!!image

please excuse my impertinent task of trying to justify my mis-behavior!!!! ROTFLMAO!!!
