If you do win the presidency, can you please change the laws in IL regarding private ownership of venomous reptiles. I'd really like to get an Eyelash Viper, a Saw Scale Viper, a Jamisons Mamba, and a nice Mozambique Spitting Cobra. Thank you in advance!
Okay, upon closer examination, I can see that it is an edited photo. Duh!
I still think that they had to accept the donation to avoid being biased. I also think that they should buy toilets for the new buiilding with the money.
How about little games to put in the urinals? Like a "spin the dial with your pee" game. It would be called "The ACG Submission Urinal Game". Spin the dial with your urine stream and where the dial stops is your grade. You would have 20 grades arranged in a 360 degree pattern, but ALL of the grades would be the same (MS-69 DCAM), except for one lowly grade of MS-68. If you only get an MS-68 then you lose. Not too far from the truth, imo.
That would be HILARIOUS! And it would almost certainly promote tourism at the ANA all by itself. Bring a coin, take a leak, get a free grade! Gotta love it!

"France said this week they need more evidence to convince them Saddam is a threat. Yeah, last time France asked for more evidence it came rollin thru Paris with a German Flag on it." -Dave Letterman
I'm not sure how I feel about a current ANA gov having to defend himself against ACG like this.
This is kind of a no-win situation for the ANA, and one in which the org foolishly situated themselves. If the ANA side with ACG, then that would be bad for the rest of the ANA membership and potentially bad for any legal defendant against ACG. If the ANA side with Stuppler, then this confirms to the membership that they are two-faced for publicly accepting money from a service that isn't close to market (and, hence, ANA) standards.
I can't stand the ANA; aside from their library, they are useless to me. On the matter of membership conduct, they are spineless. I have yet to see any evidence of solid leadership from them. I would love to see them get taught a very harsh lesson.
On the flip side, I would not enjoy even the minimal possibility of this proceeding to have any potential future legal influence.
It's one thing for the ANA to take the money from ACG. It's another to make it a photo opportunity and publish it on their web site. ANA could have taken the money in silence, but they chose to promote it and ACG.
Barry came here and tried to feed us the usual "I don't like it, but it takes time" speech about doing something about ACG. We never heard from him since. I am still waiting. It has only been 1+ years, but I am sure he will be getting back to us with info on the changes.
Sorry Barry, but you appeared to have done nothing about the ACG/ANA connection. That makes you part of the problem.
I don't know why ACG would want to kick you out of the ANA. You're closer to being one of their supporters than one of their critics.

I wonder how much of a reward Hagar would pay for the apprehension of the person responsible for THAT photo. Probably a lifetime supply of ACG submissions and you get to name your own grade. Oh, wait, you get to name your own grade anyway.

In my opinion, yes.
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

Diane Hager of ACG has been granted a hearing at the upcoming ANA National Money Show in Charlotte, NC. This hearing will be open to the public. Mrs. Hager seeks my expulsion/resignation as an ANA Governor.

Goodbye,ANA!
A dealer once asked me if I noticed any three-legged buffalos on the bourse,to which I replied,"...no,but I saw alot of two-legged jackasses..."
Short of a forum that is widely held out to be objective -- or should be -- such as the news pages of a newspaper (as opposed to columns and editorial pages where opinions and free commentary are allowed to rule), written communication is presupposed to be opinion ... short of a showing of knowing and reckless disregard of the truth for private figures, one cannot be held liable for expressions of opinion. The standard is even tougher for a public figure (i.e., one whose position or desire for publicity opens them to free comment) for whom malice (an intentional attempt to defame) must be demonstrated. (U.S. Supreme Court rulings: Times v. Sullivan, Rosenblum v. Metromedia, Gertz v. Welch, etc.)
$3,000.00 is all they could muster, hell I spent that on my little league boys baseball team.....if they would spend more time with the youth in our society, and less time sueing people with an opinion, this would not even be an issue right now.
if they would spend more time with the youth in our society
Python1, I don't know about you, but I don't want the likes of ACG spending any time with my son or any kids I know. Maybe ACG can put on a coin doctoring class for the YN's.
Thank you very much for posting a link to this "chain". Firstly, I'm glad to see Barry has our support, though from Dog's photo of Dianne, I think she needs support hoisery (aks Jock Strap) - too funny.
Some of the readers/posters appear to be attorney's, so my question to you, is what is Barry facing as far as Legal Expenses? I would imagine that win/loose/draw that ACG will have their attorney draft and file a Civil Action against him. They might even try to bring in the entire board and staff of the ANA just out of spite... possibly trying to force some type of settlement (being too cost prohibitive for the ANA to defend) that would make ACG look good in a press spin. After all, if ACG went this far to go after Barry why wouldn't they take things to the next step? They could sue for damages, loss of income, and in addition to a settlemet (even a I'll drop my suit if you just go away... I know because I've had this offered to me in a current Action) possibly get their insurance to reimburse their costs.. then where does that leave us hobbyists? Is it net gain of ZERO with ACG coming out ahead because of the Press Spin?
Surely someone has to have some type of proof that ACG and Telemarketers have a connection. That would be criminal, by ACG, and not only turn the table on their complaint against Barry, but take them out of the Community (and their aspect of the industry) for a long time while they're doing a Jail sentence.
Any ideas
"I BELIEVE in the Sacredness of a Promise, That a Man's Word Should be as Good as His Bond; That Character - Not Wealth or Power or Position - is of Supreme Worth"
These are simply acts of desperation on behalf of ACG. Thankfully, they are in their death throwes, they know it, nad they're grasping at any straw they can find. While they may have an actionable claim against Barry (though I do not think they do, nor do I think the ANA will agree with their position), it is just a matter of time before they are gone for good. Everyone knows that. ACG just doesn't want to accept it without a fight.
So we'll give them a little fight and then they can feel better about being gone

How come Giuliani didn't have to accept that Saudi's $10 million, after he made some out of line comments?
