Cent Graders Please

On sunday I asked for ideas on the grade of a 1954 Frankie, and then sent it in to PCGS on Monday. I'm going to send this in on Saturday. Grades please. Do not be afraid of hurting my feelings. Thanks, Kenimageimage

  • A bit tough to tell from the pics (and I'm not an expert, especially with Memorials), but I'm thinking MS65 - nice strike but a few obverse marks (collar, shoulder). Reverse is clean, and I believe a strong strike as well. A nice DDO though - I want one!

I was thinking what a nice DD. But for grade, MS66RD?

It's a 65RD. No way should it go 66, way too many small marks and the dig on the coat will take it out of 66.

  • copprcoins, I think you're right and if it's really a 65, then my grading skills are improving....image

  • I bought it in December! ..........Ken
Hey, a question just came to mind. Do I have to pay PCGS extra to have it slabbed as a DDO, or do they do that automatically?
  • very beautiful!!! pcgs will call it 63rd , but you might get an 64 rd from NGC,

    either way it's a keeper.
may the force be with you.

  • I agree with the people that have "copper" in their name on this one, a lock 65.

I agree. Tough call. The services do not get nearly as upset as I do about black spots on these coins. They are prone to bad spotting.

I'd call this MS-65, Red, depending on the reverse.

I think the coin should get an MS-65, red, but no higher. There are too many little marks and too many little black spots to get an MS-66 from PCGS or NGC.

If this coin comes back in an MS-63 holder, I'm a ready buyer at the MS-63 price! image

AT PCGS I say they will give it a MS-65 RD.
Nice coin, few misc marks but nice eye-appeal.
