Two sided grade?

I have a morgan (bought today) in MS-65 that has the cleanest reverse I have ever seen on anything below a 67. the rev. in fact looks better than than the ms-67 that I compared it to while at the show. It has one bag mark on the whole rev and it is a small, so small you cant see it unless it is blasted with lgiht. The obv is also nice PQ 65 but is nothing compared to the rev. Does anyone else have coins that are super one one side and just nice on the other?

Split grading was popular well into the late eightees, but more emphasis is placed on the obverse now.
I feel your pain and have many coins like that.

  • Many coins are like this, especially Morgan dollars where the rev is super but the obverse is less. That's great, but the obverse weighs heavier when grading the coin than the rev. 67 reverse with a 65 obverse, will be a MS-65 Morgan dollar.

  • Actually the obv looks more 66 so I will show it to some dealers and see if they think I should regrade it. image Working on pics.
