  • Well, if the coin is as clean as the picture shows, I'm going to guess MS66.

  • MS66

  • The fields are satiny smooth, cheek and neck are virtually untouched with only a minor contact mark at the base of the ear, extending downward. Blast white with fair amount of luster. Scan is kinda dark.

  • 66...a beaut...
  • Hard to tell from the picture, but looks like it could be MS66.
  • Hard to tell w/all the pixelisation. I'll err on the conservative side and say 65, though your description indicates 66

Tired to scan as a 400dpi, but got a no-no message on the upload

If your heart skipped a beat upon seeing the grade, then I assume it came back MS65. But, it looks more like MS64 (at best) to me.
  • Well, if it is lusterous, then I'll change my opinion to MS67. From the pictures, it doesn't look to be really lusterous. So I think it has to either be a 66 or 67.

MS66- if the luster Booms it might go MS67
  • nice MS63 or possible MS64, if there is enough luster present. If the reverse eagle's breast weren't so strong, I would say AU55 based on the obverse pic.

It must be a photo/scan thing...others just may be alittle better at grading pictures than me. I don't see the high MS grade that the others see. I must reserve judgement on this one because apparently I must be missing something that others see.

    Uh, yeah, me too!image

    Andy,

I did take note of the fact that you were the only one that came close.image

  • the lack of luster and the heavy flatness over the ear was the key, and the giveaway is the discernible rub on the back of the cap(look at the cap directly across from the M in UNUM)

    Thanks Russ image

KK: i really didn't like the coin at all. It is drab looking, w/o luster, and has rub on each side of the obverse.
  • I guess this proves the point that you can't really grade a coin from a scan!!!

    Banknote 1:

A point well taken and that is the main reason I try insert a disclaimer about grading the photo/scan and not the actual when participating. This coin did not appeal to me so I reserved judgement, but did not see a high MS grade.

  • It does look clean though. Grading from low quality pictures is a crap shot.

Heck, high quality pictures are a crap shot. Grading coins is a crap shot..

There I go off out to my special place..
    Got Morgan?

KlectorKid- You are the guy that felt the coin would go MS-67 correct? Now the coin is AU-55?
