It's about 82 outside but I don't dare rough it Might catch a cold!!!

We are getting 40-55 mph sustained wind gusts. The snow is actually coming down side ways. I can't see across the street. AND, they are predicting bigtime flooding in my neighborhood PLUS 20 inches of snow!
I doubt I'll be in work tomorrow. Days like today make me wonder why I live here!

My local ski area (10 miles away) got 6 feet last week. I shovel everyday. I was getting worried. While snow may be a pain, it is soooo much better than the forest fires that happen when we have no snow in the winter. Since the enviro's have made it so you cannot manage the forests to prevent fires now, we just have to deal with smoke (unless we have good winters).
Hope we get another 10 feet before May (it is not uncommon to get snow through May). I used to love it cold too (like 20-30 below zero), but now that I pay my own heat bills, I would just as soon it stayed a little warmer (I don't turn on heat unless it is below zero)

I live on the east side of downtown Manhattan, not too far from Laura (I imagine). It's coming down right now, but it's still better than this morning!
No snow this morning, but it was 8 degrees NOT including the wind chill!
I live in Tell City, IN. and it has been snowing and sleeting most of the day today. The temperature has been in the upper 20s. More then likely we will be getting out of school tomorrow due to the bad weather.
Yeah. Been snowing horizontal now since 4:15 AM. We had 5 inches on the ground from last weekends snow plus 2 inches we got Friday night. At dusk we had 18 inches and no let up in site. Winds gusting about 20 mph, and snow drifting. My front yard has a drift of about 5 feet in the middle. Pick up truck is burried half way up the doors. This is expected to continue until noon tommorrow with total accumulations of up to 24 inches from this storm alone. I think we'll easily break 30" plus the 5 we already had.
The pic shows my back yard. Winds have erroded snow away from close to the house, but the yard depth is about 18 inches. No drifts here, just snow.
Note. In the upper left of the photo in the background is a semi container, its 1/3 up the sides.....
Yup, its still snowing. I am standing at the door. Snow is a foot up the post. Post is on the porch which is about a foot above ground level. What ground?!?! Drift barely visible in the snowfall is about 5 feet tall as my yard slopes down toward the street, where ever that is!!
KK of course. Those of you North of the Border have school. The assistant prinical of the school I teach at lives in Fort Erie, ONT. She makes a habit of taking Canadian holidays off.
KK you in WI or Alberta?

WI, For a second I thought that the border changed! We have not had a snow day in 4 years, and dont get hardly any Holidays (Didnt get Martin Luther Kind Day off either)
We worked in the white stuff all week last week. It was drifted up under the houses, in the road, and over our stack of lumber. Every once in a while you would see a car with Michigan plates that pulled off the road and got stuck in it. Several of my men actually took their shirts off and worked. It was 80 degrees at the beach last week. Supposed to be 35/60 tomorrow. We'll be cold & miserable all day.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
You poor thing. We are doing a metal roof and soffits tomorrow, Deadline is Tuesday at noon. Highest it got here today was 9 degrees and it is starting to snow, we are expecting 2 feet of fresh snow. Man you guys down south are soft in the trade.....LOL

Proud to have fought for America, and to be an AMERICAN!
I just got back from walking my dog, and it is brutal out there. The "snow" is falling nearly horizontally, and there's no way to hide the face unless it is nearly fully covered. And, it's not really snow, or at least it didn't feel like it. The wind is blowing so hard that the snow hurts when it hits you.
There was barely any salt on the ground, and my dog's paws started hurting rather quickly! Fortunately, she did a few #1's and a #2 quickly so we can get back in without staying too long out there!
Imagine the life of those servicemen who are stationed inside the Arctic Circle...
I live outside of D.C. We've gotten 22 inches or so since early this morning, and it's still snowing! Supposed to keep snowing throughout the night. Right now it is a freezing rain/snow. Shoveled the driveway twice already, %$$#@!!. Virginia has declared a state of emergency, roads closed, etc. Last time we had anything near this, the kids were out of school for 3 days.
Of course Buffalo would be plowed out by now, business as usual tomorrow. Not around here, we can't handle a dusting.
Some refer to overgraded slabs as Coffins. I like to think of them as Happy Coins.
just dropped a raw Merc into a snow drift by my front door....guess what? I've got a blast white example now, and totally chillin' ..sending it out to be graded, something tells me it'll come back in a body bag..shucks. Dang snow!
Brrrrrrr It's too cold out there for me. Just looked out at the thermometer a while ago and it's up to 20 degrees. The winds still blowing really hard so I'll not go out in the stuff.
I went out this afternoon and walked through some drifts that were about 2 feet deep. Fired up my trusty Ram 4X4 and went for a spin. Went pretty good but there was nowhere to go. Everything was shut down cause of the "State of Emergency" here in Delaware ( I live in Dover ).
We sure as heck aren't used to this kind of stuff. I remember some high drifts like this around 1962 ( I was 7 way back then ) but normally 2 or 3 inches is heavy duty winter for us.
I'm tempted to throw some proof sets outside but I'm just too suspicious that the only thing that would get "frosted" would be me.
Don't know how people up in the far Northern States can put up with real winter conditions. I can see why Florida draws such a heavy "snowbird" migration every year.
man, it got down to about 40 here last night.............BRRRRRRRR
Don't come crying to me. We just got over 3 weeks straight of having it between -20F to -30F below zero at night. You should try northern MN out for cold! Of course, most of us love it. Every heard of exploding spit? That's when it is so cold, that it freezes and explodes before hitting the ground.
I do wish we would get some of the snow the east coast is hogging this winter. We are way behind on averages.
Southern Maryland report: 10-12 inches of snow that turned to sleet. It's now a snow/sleet mix with more snow than sleet. More snow to come later today. Good thing I have enough beer and pizza for a few days.

You couldn't PAY me enough to go skiing again. The last time I went skiing was on a 3 day New Year's Eve vacation several years ago. It was a lot of fun. The day and half I spent in the hospital afterwards was very relaxing. I fell down on the last run.

Right now, it is 19 degrees and has been almost non-stop snow and sleet since yesterday. We have eight inches of snow and sleet on the ground, with about six inches of that hard packed sleet. I am 30 miles west of Richmond VA. Here is a picture I took Saturday evening, I didn't take any today figuring I would wait until it all ended tomorrow to show the final result. At this point, we had a couple of inches of hard packed sleet on the ground.

You couldn't get any of my men to work in the snow. They won't even come to work if there is a 20% chance of rain.
