    Hi,

Like you see i am Australian citizen and now i am in Amsterdam with some business. The listing location i placed USA because this is a Us coin, right.I am not a colector but this is the only coin that i have and this is from my grand father and he colect this from Us whe he was there.I decided to sell trough internet when i was to a colector into my city and he tell me that is a very expensive coin.

The guy selling the 1851 quarter cancelled the bid from pop1eye(126) because he is a bad bidder? Mark, how embarrasing to have a scammer call you a scammerimage

Yikes - I don't think I would spend 12K on an eBay auction - what safety protocols are covered so you don't get scammed?

The seller of the 1856 Proof Flying Eagle cent cancelled my bid too. So, I sent him a message, asking him to explain the fact that the item he had on Ebay was listed for sale, elsewhere by someone else. I mentioned that if I didn't receive a good explanation I'd have to contact the authorities. I didn't hear back from him but shortly afterwards, the sale was ended. Hmmm. image

Mark you are the only one he accused of being a bad bidder, what do you have to say for yourself?
  • coinguy1coinguy1 Posts: 13,484 ✭✭✭
    Mike,

What can I say, other than that I'm BAD?! Never mind that my Ebay rating of 126 includes no neutrals or negatives - that's beside the point. image

    Great response, Tonelover!image

Otherwise, it is disconcerting to see so many obviously stolen images on ebay from people who no doubt are out to scam major dollars.

I applaud you all. Great work. image

Yes, Tom, I suppose he can. However, I believe that once Ebay learns the truth, they can delete it. Either way, it's worth it to me.
  • I'm just amazed the people that would bid large $ for a new seller with zero feedback.

  • Mark,
I admire your spirit, but I wouldn't count on eBay to remove anything unless they can make a buck doing it. (Wait! I can see it now: New EBay Service! Negs removed for $1 apiece!) Anyway, it's so easy to create multiple accounts, that there's no need to jeopardize your own excellent feedback over some scumbag scam artist. Just create a new ID. It only takes about 5 minutes and you can snipe & neg away! image

  • OK, I can see it now! That is funny! image

It must have been something with my computer settings. Of course, now I only see the text and not the coin, but I imagine that some of you can see the text superimposed on top of the coin, right?

    Way to go Tonelover!
  • tjkilliantjkillian Posts: 5,578 ✭✭✭
No, what happend is the user used a linked picture instead copying the picture and hosting it himself. Then the person who actually hosted the picture, changed it to a picture of text, keeping the file name the same. The seller could do nothing about it since it was a link and not his own file. He could not delete it either.
