Increase in Gold Prices vs Buying Gold Coins

Has the increase in gold prices ($371.10 as of 2-7-03) stopped you from buying gold coins?

    Yes

I think that once all this Iraq stuff gets resolved gold will return to the the levels of a year ago and gold coins will give up their recent price gains. IMHO---I could be wrongimage
  • No, not having enough money is what stops me. image Really, I am looking at buying low gold content coins $1, $2.5, $5 and maybe even ten dollar coins but not unless I find one really nice.

I recently came across a U.S. Bond that my grandparents gave me in 1964. I plan to cash in it and use the money to buy a gold coin from 1912, their birth year. Has anyone priced 1912 gold coins lately? I'm going to wait until gold goes down before I honor my grandparents.

Nineteenth century rare gold coins have not had nearly the move of either gold bullion or modern date coins. I still plan to buy rare gold coins when the opportunity arises. I will not buy more bullion and plan to sell bullion and generic date gold coins at the show in St. Louis this weekend.
